Appellate court affirms life sentence for man in Addison armed robbery

Illinois' Second District Appellate Court has affirmed the conviction of a Northlake man that led to a lifelong prison sentence in 2015. Luis Moreta, 46, was convicted of armed robbery with a firearm on Dec. 5, 2014, after a jury ruled he stole $3,700 from a man he met on Craigslist. Because that was his third violent conviction, DuPage County Judge John Kinsella sentenced Moreta as a habitual criminal to a term of natural life in prison. On Dec. 2, 2011, the victim drove to meet Moreta in the parking lot of an Addison apartment complex on the 600 block of Meadow Boulevard to purchase a black Suzuki GSXR motorcycle he had seen advertised by Moreta on Craigslist. The Broe Group is demolishing two existing garden apartments and replacing them with two overwhelming 30-story towers near the intersection of Downing St. and Ellsworth Ave. The twin skyscrapers will be the tallest buildings outside of downtown Denver and will be equal in height to the One Tower Center on 17th Street, the 15th tallest building in Denver. San Pablo The Silverfield Group of Jacksonville has purchased 21.85 acres at the north end of Pablo Point Drive , nestled in between Pablo Point to the south and Queen’s Harbour to the north. With mostly marsh to the east, it’s about the last bit of buildable land in the immediate area. There, they’re going to put Waterside at San Pablo , a single- family community zoned for up to 42 lots, a minimum of 90-100 feet wide. Home prices are expected to be in the $400s to $600s. Leed Silverfield said the project is still in design and engineering, but they hope to break ground early next year. Builders haven’t been chosen. He said it hasn’t been determined if it will be gated. Silverfield paid $1,175,000 for the property, buying it from the Hodges family. Woman Arrested, Charged With Being Accessory To Tulsa Man's Murder TULSA, Oklahoma - A Tulsa woman was arrested Thursday in connection to the shooting death of a man in June. Davina Baker, 24, was arrested on a charge of being an accessory to a murder after the fact, Tulsa Jail records show . 6/29/2017 Related Story: Tulsa Police: One Killed In Shooting At Apartment Complex The shooting occurred at the Addison Apartments near South 101st East Avenue and East Admiral Place . Baker was charged with the crime today, according to Tulsa County District Court records . Dayanaira Pacheco, Eddie Lopez and Jose Arzuaga-Ortiz also face charges in relation to the homicide. Baker is due in court Aug. 24.
