SUBURBAN WEST PALM BEACH , Fla. -- Firefighters extinguished an apartment fire in suburban West Palm Beach on Saturday. At 11:40 a.m., Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews received a report of a fire on the 900 block of Cotton Bay Drive East . First arriving crews reported smoke from the second floor of the building. Firefighters quickly entered the building, located the flames and worked to extinguish them. The American Red Cross is assisting two occupants that were displaced by the fire.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida. No one was injured in the fire, which broke out around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday at The Glenn Apartments on Heather Ridge Circle near University Boulevard and Rouse Road. According to Orange County Fire Rescue , a three- story apartment building that's being renovated was evacuated because of the blaze.  "2nd Alarm BLD, Heather Ridge Ci , smoke & fire from apt bld, being evac'd," OCFR tweeted. Video from Local 6 helicopter Sky 6 showed flames shooting from the building before firefighters extinguished it. The cause of the fire is under investigation. "We are working to find new homes for each resident who has been affected by the fire.  To address immediate needs, we have secured hotel accommodations for all residents who have been displaced," apartment officials said. The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to a call at 11:19 a.m. regarding a possible apartment fire on the 800 block. Firefighters found smoke coming from a second-floor apartment, a news release said, and they declared a "working fire" alarm assignment. Multiple fire departments arrived on the scene, with firefighters working to put the fire out and evacuating adjoining apartments . Firefighters located the fire within a wall in the living room area and quickly extinguished it, the department said. Damage was limited to apartment 9104, and the power meter was removed to that individual unit. Independent staff report MASSILLON  Firefighters and police evacuated Lincoln Apartments Sunday evening after a fire was reported in the first- floor community room of the complex. The fire was extinguished in a matter of minutes, according to Fire Chief Tom Burgasser , who said the blaze might have sparked from an appliance in the room. A few dozen residents were standing outside the building watching as firefighters and paramedics checked the inside, which was partially filled with smoke. BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC)- UPDATE: Bettendorf fire was dispatched to the 1800 block of Sutton Place at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday. When firefighters arrived , the fire was burning through the roof of a two story apartment complex . The Bettendorf Fire Department had the fire under control at approximately 7:55 p.m. and was extinguished at 9 p.m. while firefighters monitored hot spots overnight . All occupants of the six apartment complex were removed, none of them were injured. A firefighter sustained minor injuries . The Red Cross assisted in accommodating the residents. There are no estimates yet for the apartment's extensive damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighters have contained a 3-alarm fire at an apartment building in Uptown Dallas. The fire started at about 11:30 Wednesday morning on the 3200 block of Hall Street. Crews said they could see smoke and fire coming from a third-floor balcony when they arrived. Once they extinguished the blaze, they found a dog inside the building. Paramedics attempted to save the dog with oxygen, but were unsuccessful and the dog died. No other injuries were reported. The fire caused damage to two different units, but at least 10 additional units sustained water and/or smoke damage. An unknown number of residents are displaced due to the damages. The American Red Cross was notified to assist them. Fire officials determined the fire was accidental. It was caused from an improperly discarded a cigarette. BEVERLY HILLS, CA – A fire broke out in an apartment building in the Fairfax Village area near Beverly Hills Wednesday , damaging the exterior of the building but no one was hurt. Firefighters were sent to the 100 block of South Doheny Drive at 9:21 a.m. and extinguished the flames in 19 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported . The fire was contained to the siding on the outside of the three- story building , and the cause of the blaze is under investigation. Shortly after 4 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the area for a report of a grass fire that extended to the Westridge Apartments.  The blaze was extinguished quickly by Billings Fire Department but not before the flames charred ripped through the south side of the building. Three people were transported for minor injuries while three others were evaluated and refused transportation, according to fire officials . It's unknown how it began, but fire officials said it began outside and spread inside the fourplex. It caused $500,000 in damages.

Brian Pattison was convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree arson after a seven-day trial. He was first arrested on May 25, 2016. Prosecutors say Pattison shot and killed Shane Richardson after going to his apartment under the guise of a “tattoo party” to finish a tattoo he had started for the victim. He was found guilty of shooting and killing Richardson sometime between April 30 and May 2, 2016 and ultimately setting fire to the building – which also houses Rosenberg’s Bagels and Delicatessen – during the late night hours of May 1.
