McCord Development Expects Move To Generation Park In Late August

Image
HUMBLE, TX — Nestled along the growing area outside Humble, Texas, and along a stretch of East Beltway 8, is one of the fastest growing communities in the Houston area. Generation Park is quietly becoming home to large companies such as TechnipFMC, which opened their new campus there in 2016. And now, McCord Development Inc., which owns Generation Park , is building its own headquarters across the street from TechnipFMC. McCord Development has been acquiring land in North Houston since 1985. In 1995, McCord was the original developer of Summerwood, a thriving 1,541-acre master- planned community that is adjacent to the north of Generation Park. Since then, Generation Park has seen a flurry or retail development in the northern segments of the 4,000 acre campus, as well as plans from San Jacinto College and Lone Star College to develop work force education facilities there. In July 2016, McCord Development broke ground on Redemption Square, a mixed-used development, and its hea...

On-site learning centers offer benefits to students – and renters

August 23, 2017 Madison, Wis. — When it came to getting homework done, the odds weren’t in Kebba Bojang’s favor. Like many teenagers, he admits, he had a tendency to procrastinate. And with no computer at home and the nearest library a long walk away, assignments often ranged from difficult to impossible.  Unlike most other high school students in similar predicaments, however, Mr. Bojang was able to find a solution in – quite literally – his own backyard.  Bojang, now 24 and entering his second year of pharmacy school at the University of Iowa, is representative of a range of success stories to have come out of Northport Apartments, a Section 8 housing development on Madison’s East Side. At the heart of the 140- unit apartment complex , both physically and metaphorically, is a humble brick building that holds a roomful of computers, a few quiet meeting rooms , and a team of residents-turned-staff eager to help their neighbors succeed.  After moving to Northport his sophomore year o...

Christina El Moussa Has a Few Things She'd Like to Say

Image
Aug 22, 2017 Most of the stars on HGTV — a network so popular it beat CNN's ratings during an election year — lean toward a look that, well, blends in. Crown jewel Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper is often seen in denim, plaid and baseball caps to match the Waco, Texas, scenery. Love It or List It 's Hilary Farr is almost always wearing jeans and a plain, bright sweater or blouse. Karen Laine and daughter Mina Starsiak of HGTV's new show Good Bones also favor simple plaids and neutrals. Christina El Moussa from Flip or Flop , HGTV's second most popular show after Fixer Upper , will sometimes wear a conservative blouse or drapey sweater on-camera, but she'll also pair them with ripped jeans or visit demolition day in form- fitting yoga pants . She's hardly ever without a blowout and brown smokey eyeshadow . She stands out and gets noticed — but with that must come a thick skin. Travel Agent Plans Pricey (and Tricky) Trips for Corporate CEOs and Former U.S. Presidents – Skift

In the era of the humble brag, it’s harder than ever to know how your boss travels. Assuming he or she is the type that likes to share, you might see a suggestion of a private jet or a swanky beach resort on Instagram—or hear one unassuming story about the sea turtles that swam under the paddleboard in St. Barthelemy. Unfortunately for your water cooler conversations , no chief executive officer is ever going to spill the beans on his  favorite private island , the extent of his security detail, or the lengths his assistant went to procure Coke Zero in Madagascar. For that, we turned to Jaclyn Sienna India , president and founder of the decade-old travel consultancy Sienna Charles . Almost immediately after hanging a shingle on West Palm Beach ’s ritzy Worth Avenue in 2008, India got her lucky break: An unexpectedly productive, $25,000 ad with the Explorer’s Club turned out her first billionaire client, and word of mouth turned one into many. Now India is a go-to for the finance wor...
