Man charged with selling heroin after search at suspected Grand Forks drug 'flop house'
Officers with the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force took part in a probation search Wednesday at an apartment at 111 Cottonwood St., the home of Jacob Zefferino Gomez , according to court documents . Officers said the apartment appeared to be a "flop house" where people come to buy and use drugs. Inside Gomez's bedroom, law enforcement said they found a black case containing a bag with 0.6 grams of heroin and a small amount of marijuana. Officers also said they located a digital scale, commonly used to weigh drugs, in Gomez's closet. Task Force officers said 0.6 grams of heroin is an amount not commonly possessed for personal use. That and the digital scale led to a Class B felony charge for possession with heroin with intent to sell. Gomez, 34, also was charged with child endangerment, a Class C felony, because his two-year-old child was in the residence.
