I didn’t cry while searching for a San Diego apartment , but I came close. Moving to the city on a Sunday night, I had a five-day reservation at a Motel 6 and needed to find an apartment fast . I also had my 6-year-old tabby cat with me and a new job as real estate reporter for the San Diego Union -Tribune to start the next day. I was fairly confident I’d find a place quickly because in the last decade I had managed to get apartments in London, Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, rural New Jersey, Northeast Pennsylvania and, most recently, Monterey. Not only did San Diego turn out to be the most difficult, it made me change nearly everything I thought I wanted. My criteria was a one- bedroom apartment near the beach that allows cats, a rent of no more than $1,200 and was fairly close to work. To say the least, I stayed at the Motel 6 longer than expected. Anthony Joseph Green claimed he would rent a furnished apartment for a low price, but said he required a financial deposit before he deploys. He siaid he works as a U.S. Navy helicopter rescue swimmer . Six people have been identified as victims of his thefts. SDPD arrested a man Wednesday for fraudulently taking deposits from people on Craigslist looking for an apartment to rent. Anthony Jospeh Green responded to multiple people looking for an apartment on the site claiming he was deploying with the Navy as a helicopter rescue pilot swimmer . He would claim he had a furnished apartment for a low price, but that he needs a financial deposit before he deploys. So far six people have been identified as victims of his crimes. SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego police are on the lookout for a crook after a Craigslist robbery in Serra Mesa. A man selling two iPhones met up with a buyer at an apartment complex on Tuesday night. The victim tells CBS News 8 the man said he often bought items off Craigslist, and mentioned he was armed for protection. "And he was all 'I keep this stuff on me whenever I go to make a business deal and he showed me a taser and he was all 'This is my main thing, I have it in my pocket and if its ever really necessary I have concealed weapons permit as well,'" victim Raymond Manya said. The victim says the man offered to buy the phones for $840, but when he handed them off he got an envelope he assumed was filled with cash. It only had $17. The suspect is described as Hispanic in his early 30s driving a black Lexus.

Grace knew she wasn’t supposed to have guests stay longer than one week, at the retirement place where she lives in Vista. But she wanted to help her daughter. Sixty years ago , she named her precious daughter Nancy Joy — and she was a joy, for many years. But lately 89-year-old Grace and her 60-year-old daughter were having troubles. Mom suspected that her daughter was not sipping juice in that cup she held, while they watched television. Grace thought there was alcohol in that cup.
