Originally set out over two floors; a  basement level and double height ground floor , the studio has transformed the space into a three level open- plan living design that maximises the use of space whilst allowing natural light to flood all three floors of the home, creating a pleasant and connected environment that caters for life's challenges.  During the renovation, an additional glass mezzanine level was added to the longest half of the double height room . Affinity Foxwood Place Apartments are opening, thanks to some groups working together. A ribbon-cutting and open house ceremony was held Thursday in the new community office for the apartments on 6147 Ruhlmann Road. The entire project not only took a lot of people, but a lot of time, as well. “Standing here today, we have to look back three and a half years to when we started this process; it takes a long time,” said Affinity Property Management partner and CEO Jeff Birtch . “It’s a huge team that takes us to this point.” The project started in November 2006 and will be completed in full in March. Lauer-Manguso and Associates of Buffalo is the architectural firm in charge of the construction and the remodeling. Some of the buildings were renovated for handicap use. It is known that Sutton ran a clipper ship line to the California coast in the 1850's that served Gold Rush hopefuls , and that he lived on West 29th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues (a block that was also called Lamartine Place and was set apart from the rest of the city's street grid because of separate numbering). In 1875 a consortium of developers that included James Stokes , William Dodge and D. Willis James began to acquire property on Avenue A in the East 50's, on what is now called Sutton Place . Deed patterns suggest that they were working with a builder, Andrew Kerwin, who in 1879 put up the original Sutton Place enclave , 24 single-family brownstones on the block bounded by 58th and 59th Streets and Avenue A and the East River. KALAMAZOO, MI -- A 73-unit, four floor apartment building is planned for Kalamazoo's Edison neighborhood . On Aug. 10, the Zoning Board of Appeals approved three variances to Strong Tower Development for various aspects of the proposed building, located in a block of land between 2138 and 2214 Portage St. The development is intended to be a senior housing project , featuring a leasing office, corporate office space  and amenities like a community room and fitness area. This building is planned to contain five market rate units and  68 subsidized public housing units reserved for seniors to relocate from the nearby Heritage Community complex . All units will be single-bedroom apartments, with a bathroom, kitchen, dining room and living room. The building will also have a rooftop terrace and garden. The De La Mar Apartment building is an exquisite example of neo-classic architecture with very ornate design elements throughout.
