TOLLING THE TYCOONS — Albanese calls for 'politically popular' pied-à-terre tax, by POLITICO New York’s Conor Skelding : Foreign "oligarchs" who own real estate in New York but don't live in the city should have to pay two or three times what they pay now in property taxes, Democratic mayoral candidate Sal Albanese said Wednesday. The "politically popular" new tax's revenue, which Albanese said would amount to billions, could then be put toward the development of affordable housing . "Look, there's a lot of money across the world that people want to outsource," he said during a news conference outside the gates of City Hall. "There's a lot of money there, and we can use that to build real affordable housing ." Mayor Bill de Blasio promised years ago to "take a look" at a pied-à-terre tax, but the proposal is opposed by many of the city's real estate interests . "They own Bill de Blasio , big real estat...

In the final days of last summer, Drake and Rihanna made waves when they hunkered down for some R&R in what TMZ called “an oceanfront villa fit for honeymoonin’.” While that relationship didn’t last long (and Drake is now linked to Young Money label mate Nicki Minaj ), the press had a lasting effect on the other stunner in that story: the $ 29 million Malibu love nest where they stayed. “When news broke of Drake and Rihanna vacationing at one of my listings in Malibu, interest shot up,” said The Agency’s Angel Kou in an email, noting that the property rents for $5,000 per day. “People like to experience what A-listers experience, to get a glimpse of that glitz and glam.” beach front villa that Drake and Rihanna stayed in September 2016." src="http://mansion-global-app.s3.amazonaws.com/article-images/2017/08/image_l_031.jpg" /> An interior view of the beach front villa that Drake and Rihanna stayed in September 2016. Sawgrass Cove apartments in Bradenton sell for $39.25 Million

BRADENTON -- A Chicago company has paid $39.25 million for a set of 336 apartments that have only been off the market for four years. The Inland Real Estate Group 's purchase of the Sawgrass Cove Apartments on Jan. 28 is the fourth major multifamily transaction in the Bradenton area since mid December. Situated on about 28 acres at 4945 49th Avenue W., the complex is grouped in with several other apartment properties south of Cortez Road W. One neighboring property, the Palm Cove Apartments , sold for $31.6 million in early January. Why Data Center REIT CoreSite is Sector Royalty

Image
If you’re a regular reader of DCK Investor Edge , you know that investors who own data center REIT shares have seen better rewards year-to-date compared to more traditional commercial real estate asset classes like office, retail, apartments, net-lease, and healthcare. Data centers sit squarely at the intersection of real estate and technology, providing space, power, and access to networks and cloud service providers that attract coveted enterprise customers . When it comes to the various REIT sub-sectors, data centers sit squarely at the top, while the broader real estate sector is treading water, down 0.6 percent. Data centers as a sub-sector are chalking up another year of outperformance, following similar gains in 2016. Christina El Moussa Has a Few Things She'd Like to Say

Image
Aug 22, 2017 Most of the stars on HGTV — a network so popular it beat CNN's ratings during an election year — lean toward a look that, well, blends in. Crown jewel Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper is often seen in denim, plaid and baseball caps to match the Waco, Texas, scenery. Love It or List It 's Hilary Farr is almost always wearing jeans and a plain, bright sweater or blouse. Karen Laine and daughter Mina Starsiak of HGTV's new show Good Bones also favor simple plaids and neutrals. Christina El Moussa from Flip or Flop , HGTV's second most popular show after Fixer Upper , will sometimes wear a conservative blouse or drapey sweater on-camera, but she'll also pair them with ripped jeans or visit demolition day in form- fitting yoga pants . She's hardly ever without a blowout and brown smokey eyeshadow . She stands out and gets noticed — but with that must come a thick skin.
