Former footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have revealed a new Hodder + Partners- designed tower  for Manchester, England, after dropping their original designs following uproar over the plan to raze several historic buildings . The former Manchester United players -turned-devlopers are working with  Burnley Football Club owner Brendan Flood on the plans for the St Michael's scheme, which they first unveiled in August 2016. But the plans drawn up by Ken Shuttleworth of London studio Make were met with furore from residents and heritage body Historic England as they involved the demolition of a number of culturally signifcant buildings on Jackson's Row. Ustler Development   and a joint venture partner will pay the city of Orlando more than $5.475 million for a 1.6-acre parcel in Creative Village  to develop market rate apartments with ground-floor retail, which will be the fourth or fifth building to rise in the downtown college campus after it opens in August 2019.  A Parcel M/ Lot 3 land contract will go before City Council on Monday for master developer  Creative Village Development, LLC , which Ustler is a lead figure in, to exercise its purchase option to acquire and develop parcels . A planned new development in Eckington faces opposition on an unlikely front: its request to change the current industrial zoning to build a mixed-use residential building. Amending the zoning would keep with nearby developments, but begs the question of where Washington DC  should preserve its limited industrial land , and how much it should save. The planned Eckington Park development is located at the northwestern corner of the empty lot at the corner of R Street and Harry Thomas Way NE next to the Metropolitan Branch Trail . Samuelson Development has spent the past 15 years building and managing apartments in Sioux Falls, one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Now, the construction firm has struck out for the west where it is seeing new opportunities and investing millions of dollars. "We love the Rapid City market ," said Matt Petersen, property manager for Samuelson Development . "Our research showed there was a high demand for luxury housing."  The company, which has about 600 properties in its portfolio, is spending about $16 million on the Copper Ridge Apartments project now under construction at 2000 Golden Eagle Road in southwest Rapid City , project manager John Samuelson said. It is the company's first project in Rapid City. Nearly 1,100 new apartment units could be coming to Pentagon City as part of a major planned development of the 37- acre RiverHouse apartment complex . RiverHouse owner Vornado presented the initial development plans to largely skeptical members of the Arlington Ridge Civic Association last night. The plans call for 934 new market rate apartment units , to be added to the existing 1,670 units on the site across three buildings, which date back to the 1950s and 60s. Vornado is also proposing a 150 unit, stand-alone affordable apartment building , to be developed with a nonprofit affordable housing partner . The new market rate units will be built across three buildings, each about seven stories tall — half the height of the existing buildings — to preserve the views of condominium residents on Arlington Ridge . Plans for more than 750 flats - including a 40-storey skyscraper - in a huge new redevelopment around Angel Meadows will go before councillors today (Thursday). The proposals, intended to kick off more than 10,000 new homes stretching out towards Collyhurst, have been met with opposition from more than 50 residents and the local parks group amid fears it will cast the historic space into shade.
