As an investigation into the death of a Helena carjacking victim continues , his alleged attacker faces more charges stemming from a rampage in Salt Lake City . Authorities say Eddie Christopher Sanchez , 45, of Helena, started his crime spree in Helena early Sunday when he allegedly led officers on a pursuit and then strangled a man during a carjacking on Washington Street. He is also accused of assaulting a woman in Dillon and forcibly taking her wallet Sunday afternoon .  On Tuesday, authorities in Salt Lake City picked up Sanchez on a Helena-based warrant on felony charges of criminal endangerment, aggravated assault and robbery.  Just before authorities apprehended Sanchez , he pulled a knife on someone in Salt Lake City , according to police reports . A man accused of setting a car on fire near St. Vincent Healthcare on Monday did it so he could return to jail, charging documents say. He had been out of custody for two and a half weeks after being arrested and charged with setting fire to his mother’s home. William Arnold Miller , 58, appeared in Yellowstone County Justice Court on Wednesday on one felony count of arson. Miller turned himself in to authorities at the Yellowstone County Sheriff ’s Office after starting the fire earlier this week and is being held on $75,000 bond. In a statement to police, Miller said he drove to the Holiday Gas Station on North 27th Street and Sixth Avenue North and filled a Powerade bottle with gasoline. He then drove west, found a dark-colored car near St. Vincent Healthcare on 12th Avenue North , poured gasoline on the windshield, lit a match and ignited the vehicle, according to charging documents. SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake man pleaded guilty Monday to killing a man in a violent home invasion and robbery. Landon Kavani Johnson , 20, admitted to killing 18-year-old Eric Padilla when he attempted to rob the man on Sept. 17. In a deal with prosecutors, additional charges against Johnson were dismissed, including aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary, first-degree felonies; and obstructing justice, a second-degree felony. According to police, Padilla and two others were in the bedroom of an apartment at Sky Harbor Apartments , 221 N. Sun Harbor Terrace , playing video games when there was a knock at the door. Padilla did not live at the apartment, and someone else answered the door. When the door opened, Johnson entered and grabbed the man who had opened the door by the neck, pointing a large silver revolver at him, charging documents state , telling the man, "Give me everything you got." Officers with the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force took part in a probation search Wednesday at an apartment at 111 Cottonwood St., the home of Jacob Zefferino Gomez , according to court documents . Officers said the apartment appeared to be a "flop house" where people come to buy and use drugs. Inside Gomez's bedroom, law enforcement said they found a black case containing a bag with 0.6 grams of heroin and a small amount of marijuana. Officers also said they located a digital scale, commonly used to weigh drugs, in Gomez's closet. Task Force officers said 0.6 grams of heroin is an amount not commonly possessed for personal use. That and the digital scale led to a Class B felony charge for possession with heroin with intent to sell. Gomez, 34, also was charged with child endangerment, a Class C felony, because his two-year-old child was in the residence. (CBS12) —  A newly released report shed light on the circumstances surrounding the apartment fire that nearly claimed the lives of three children. The report says Trenice Smith, the mother of the children, ran out of the apartment half naked after 22-year-old Velmando Williams, the father of her two sons, stabbed her in the back of the head with a knife during an argument. Latoya Rentz remembers the moment Smith noticed her three small kids were trapped inside a burning apartment . “When I looked at the window and they started getting black and stuff I'm like, 'Oh my God,'” Rentz said. “The girl Trenice was saying the kids were locked in."
