An early Sunday morning standoff ended with an Aurora police SWAT team arresting a shotgun-wielding man, who had an outstanding arrest warrant for attempted homicide. Aurora police said the man is Adeeb Mohammed. At around 2 a.m., Aurora police received a report of a man with a gun at the Silverbrook Apartments, at 15453 E. First Ave., police said. A resident who heard a fight in the parking lot told police that he saw a man with a gun when he looked out the window. When officers arrived at the scene, a man told them that the suspect had pointed a shotgun at him and also hit him with the gun. The man told police that the suspect ran into one of the complex’s buildings and took shelter in apartment 302. When officers learned the identity of the suspect, they discovered there was a warrant for his arrest for attempted homicide, police said. AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) – A man wanted for attempted murder surrendered to police early Sunday morning after an hours-long standoff at an apartment building. At approximately 2 a.m. at the Silverbrook Apartments at 15453 East First Avenue, Aurora police responded to a report of a fight and an armed man in a parking lot. When police arrived , a man told them he was struck by another man carrying a shotgun who then ran into an apartment. Police evacuated surrounding apartments and ordered the apartment’s occupants to exit. Four complied, police said, but the suspect did not. At 4:30 a.m., the Aurora police SWAT shot a foam round through the suspect’s window. Three people, including the suspect, exited. He was taken into custody without incident. Police haven’t released the suspect’s name.

TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Sierra Vista Police Department safely apprehended an armed woman who barricaded herself in her apartment for more than six hours on Wednesday.  Officers responded to Vista Village Apartments  just after three o'clock yesterday for reports of a woman waving a handgun and attempting to break a window outside her neighbor's apartment.  When officers arrived, 63-year-old Gayle Farris had returned to her apartment. Farris would not cooperate with the officers and then barricaded herself in the apartment.  Neighboring apartments were evacuated and SVPD Tactical Unit were called to the scene. Seventh Street from Charles Dr. to Clark Dr. were closed.  Negotiations between Farris and the tactical unit were unsuccessful and less-lethal chemicals were deployed into the apartment from the backyard, Farris fired her handgun twice toward officers.  After hours without communication from Farris, the Cochise County Sheriff 's Office SWAT team was called to assist....

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - In an incident on Wednesday, May 31 the Sierra Vista Police Department was able to safely arrest a woman, who had barricaded herself in her apartment and was armed with a handgun.  According to a news release from the SVPD, Gayle Farris, a 63-year-old resident of Sierra Vista turned herself over to police after a 6-hour stand off that began at 3:15 p.m.   Officers responded to the Vista Village Apartments at 1125 N. Seventh Street for the report of a woman brandishing a handgun and attempting to break the window of a neighboring apartment.  By the time officers arrived Farris had gone into her apartment. According to the release Farris refused to cooperate with officers and barricaded herself inside her apartment.  Neighboring apartments were evacuated and the SVPD Tactical Unit was activated, and Seventh Street was closed form Charles Drive to Clark Drive. NAPLES, FL - 47 people are without a place to live after fire ripped through a Naples apartment complex Monday night . North Collier Fire crews responded to the Bear Creek apartments off Airport-Pulling Road around 2:00 pm Monday. They found one of the buildings in flames. "Upon doing a search on the 3rd floor, one of the firefighters became trapped after a partial roof collapse ," said North Collier Fire Chief James Cunningham .   That firefighter was treated for minor injuries.  Several people from surrounding buildings were also evacuated. "I thought it was gonna spread, get to other buildings, hurt somebody," said Alexandria Wright. One resident said he smelled smoke before the fire, but did not call firefighters because he said the smell went away. "There was some work being done on the building and we are trying to figure out what that was, but we believe the fire was well advanced before we were notified," said Cunningham. BARCELONA, Spain The Latest on the Spain attacks (all times local): 11:30 p.m. Police in the southern French city of Nimes have arrested a man unlawfully carrying a pistol into a train station, but say he is not linked to the attacks in Barcelona. After an evacuation and police operation at the train station Saturday night , the historic city quickly returned to normal, with police returning to their posts. A national police spokesman said the operation began when a passenger alerted police to a man with a weapon. Police quickly found and arrested him, said the spokesman, who was not authorized to be publicly named. The spokesman said the man has no apparent connection to Thursday's attacks around Barcelona, about 380 kilometers southwest of Nimes.
