How To Find Cheap Apartments In Playa Del Carmen

Image
Playa del Carmen Mexico" alt="Cheap Apartment Playa del Carmen Mexico" /> My Gated Apartment Building Playa del Carmen, Mexico I’ve spent the last year living in Playa del Carmen , Mexico. My first cheap apartment near the beach only cost $500 a month. This is how I found it. Playa del Carmen is a laid- back beach town located in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. It’s a favorite spot for backpackers and expatriates from around over the world. Digital nomads like myself like to base themselves here for a few months to get work done. There are a lot of benefits that come with living in Playa del Carmen . Tasty cheap food , inexpensive housing, good public transportation , and white sand beaches make it ideal. Not to mention modern conveniences like fast internet, decent nightlife, and Walmart. But there are all kinds of fun things to do nearby as well. You can explore ancient Mayan ruins , go snorkeling with sea turtles, scuba dive underground cenotes , and more. Playa...

Image
With this month's impending closure of Little Hollywood Launderette, a German eatery setting up shop in the long-vacant Rub-A-Dub-Dub on Church, and Duboce Triangle's Rising Star Laundromat being turned into a three-bedroom residence, many Castro neighbors are wondering where they're going to be able to wash their clothes. In a neighborhood with many older buildings that lack even in-building laundry, this prompted an question extra in rent do you have to pay to have laundry (whether in-unit or in-building) at your Castro apartment ? The Insider Picks team writes about stuff we think you'll like. Business Insider has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. Brooklinen Moving is a stressful experience no matter how you slice it, and taking on the job of finding and outfitting your first apartment as an adult is even more so. Your first apartment is a perfect storm: an intersection of many needs and low resources. Chances are high that your college roommate might have bought the kitchen utensils ... or the vacuum... or the pots and pans...  and now you’re trying to furnish an entire apartment on your own with less money than it seems the job will demand. The few purchases you do make will need to last you longer than the cheap, seasonal models you bought in college so you’re not in the same spot, dumping more money into a dresser next year. You’ll likely want nicer belongings than plastic storage bins for all of your clothes as an adult now, anyway. Since it's unlikely y...

Berkeley cottage asks $729,000 - Curbed SF

Image
Realtor Stacey Merryman calls the two bed, one bath Berkeley house at 2435 Sacramento Street a “secret gem.” The secret has been out before, though, selling twice since 2000, mostly recently in 2008 when it sold for $610,000. Since then it seems to have appreciated, listing again this week for $729,000 with an open house this weekend so that potential buyers can appreciate it some more. From the outside, the place shows a strange face to the curb, sporting olive green exteriors with purple and turquoise doors that’s a bit conspicuous for the purposes of secret-keeping. But once insight the more familiar white interiors take over, along with French doors, built-ins, and a particularly weathered looking (a good thing, in this context) fireplace holding down the fort in the living room. The home dates to 1923, and there’s an extra studio apartment on the property, which realtor Merryman advises is good for “artists, teen hangout, or whatever.” Literal gems might be easier to come by ...

Gurner Launches $600m 'FV' Development Amid Concerns of an Apartment Oversupply

Image
After two-and-a-half years of construction, Gurner has officially unveiled the first two towers of its $ 600 million Brisbane development . The launch of FV comes a week after BIS Economics forecast high - rise apartment construction will halve over the next three years. In its residential property forecast 2017 -2020 report, BIS indicated that the resurgence in prices in the current financial year is likely to be short-lived as a looming oversupply of apartments in our major cities will dampen price growth . Gurner rebuffed claims that the local market was oversupplied, “With so much pressure on house prices in Australia, Brisbane provides an incredibly affordable option for first home buyers and owners. Brisbane is 50% more affordable than Melbourne and 60-70% [more affordable] than Sydney – it is now something people just cannot ignore.” Notwithstanding concerns of an oversupply or weakening markets, Gurner has sold all apartments of the FV development , “People have been saying...

How to Make it to $1 Million

The balance of our coverage provides a snapshot of who America's millionaires are, where they live, and how they built their wealth. Nearly two decades ago, these five families were featured in MONEY as "millionaires in the making"—households that were well on their way to a seven- figure net worth excluding the value of their primary residences. Rhone in MONEY’s August 2000 issue, when he was still a “Millionaire In The Making.”   That was starting in 2000, around the time the dotcom stock bubble began to burst. Yet despite running into one of the worst bear markets in history—which was followed soon after by the global financial panic , the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression—these families still managed to achieve their goals. How did they accomplish this? Some did it by living frugally and saving aggressively so that when the bad times hit, they had enough of a cushion. Others proved to be resilient in the face of setbacks, staying the course with the...
