Fire crews extinguish structure fire at Cypress Grove Apartments - wistv.com

Crews had the fire under control within five minutes of arrival. (Source: RayomMedia) WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Crews with the Wilmington Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the Cypress Grove Apartments Thursday night . According to the WFD, firefighters arrived to the scene around 11:37 p.m. and found light smoke showing . Flames were visible in the kitchen area after a size up. Fire crews quickly battled the flames and had the fire under control within five minutes of arrival. Once the fire was under control, Wilmington Fire Investigators arrived to the scene and determined the fire started in the kitchen due to unattended cooking. It was ruled accidental. Bettendorf Fire Department responds to apartment fire

BETTENDORF, Iowa (KWQC)- UPDATE: Bettendorf fire was dispatched to the 1800 block of Sutton Place at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday. When firefighters arrived , the fire was burning through the roof of a two story apartment complex . The Bettendorf Fire Department had the fire under control at approximately 7:55 p.m. and was extinguished at 9 p.m. while firefighters monitored hot spots overnight . All occupants of the six apartment complex were removed, none of them were injured. A firefighter sustained minor injuries . The Red Cross assisted in accommodating the residents. There are no estimates yet for the apartment's extensive damage. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Just after 2:30 a.m., fire crews responded to the fire, which was burning at the Stonebrook Apartments on East Parkway. Crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the second floor of the building, according to the Public Safety News Network . One person was detained by the Sacramento County Sheriff ’s Department. Tenants escape Cedar Springs apartment fire

CEDAR SPRINGS -- Tenants inside an apartment home at 40 Maple Street escaped unharmed after fire ripped through their building early Monday , severely damaging the large home. Fire crews responded at 2:55 a.m. to the home, which contained four or five apartments, Cedar Springs Fire Chief Jerry Gross said. Fire was burning heavily in the back half of the home when firefighters arrived and crews had trouble containing the flames because of open spaces in the older home. Firefighters eventually used a backhoe to tear down part of the backside of the home as they attacked the fire. Gross said at least one of the residents heard a smoke detector sounding and her husband then knocked on other apartment doors to make sure everyone got out. Gross said at least five people lived in the apartments. According to officials at the Brookdale Senior Living facility , located on Old Diamond Hill Road , there was a fire in an apartment around 1:30 p.m. Fire crews responded and required the building to be evacuated. No injuries were reported from either residents or associates. “Those residents who are displaced due to the fire and water damage will be relocated to other living spaces. We are grateful to our associates who responded quickly and assisted residents to exit from the building safely,” said Heather Hunter with Brookdale Senior Living Inc. Several homeless after Naples fire at Bear Creek Apartments

NAPLES, FL - 47 people are without a place to live after fire ripped through a Naples apartment complex Monday night . North Collier Fire crews responded to the Bear Creek apartments off Airport-Pulling Road around 2:00 pm Monday. They found one of the buildings in flames. "Upon doing a search on the 3rd floor, one of the firefighters became trapped after a partial roof collapse ," said North Collier Fire Chief James Cunningham .   That firefighter was treated for minor injuries.  Several people from surrounding buildings were also evacuated. "I thought it was gonna spread, get to other buildings, hurt somebody," said Alexandria Wright. One resident said he smelled smoke before the fire, but did not call firefighters because he said the smell went away. SHARON HILL, Pa. (WPVI) -- Firefighters battled a three alarm blaze at an apartment building in Sharon Hill, Delaware County. Crews worked for several hours before getting the blaze under control around 9 p.m. Friday. Fourteen people were displaced and dozens of others were evacuated from nearby buildings. Fire victim Diana Ruzat lived on the third floor of the apartment building on Sharon Avenue, and says she lost everything. "Left to walk my dog and my boyfriend hears a pop pop pop! He's like, there's smoke coming from your apartment! I ran as fast as I could," She said. Crews responded to reports of an explosion at the back of the building around 2:30 p.m. One resident was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Flames shot from the roof and thick smoke flooded the area. Vera Cameron of Sharon Hill said, "When I came out, the only thing you could see was all this black smoke. Emergency crews responded to the Deer Run Apartments on Volunteer Parkway. Investigators say something inside of an outdoor planter ignited and exterior wall of the apartment building. The fire spread to an interior wall of the building. Firefighters say a resident at the apartment was woken up by a smoke detector that went off and alerted her to the fire. Everyone was able to safely escape. The fire damaged a wall of the apartment building, as well as an outdoor deck area . There was also smoke damage to a couple of apartments in the building. (Photo: KHOU) PEARLAND, Texas – A two- alarm fire swept through a Pearland apartment building overnight Saturday , damaging all 16 units inside. Fire crews from six different cities responded to the blaze around 2 a.m. Saturday at the Whispering Winds apartment complex in Pearland. Officials say the fire started in the center of the complex and quickly spread to all 16 units. They say 12 of those units have fire damage, and all of them have water and smoke damage. Authorities say one person suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. American Red Cross is helping residents find temporary housing . The cause of the fire is under investigation. Goose Creek firefighters respond to apartment fire

Source: Live 5 GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A fire at a Goose Creek apartment is being blamed on a ventilation hood over a stove. Firefighters responded to the Hallmark at Timberlake apartment complex . Goose Creek Fire Chief Steve Chapman said it took about five minutes to extinguish a small fire in the kitchen of one unit. The resident of the second-floor apartment where the fire began was not home at the time. The unit sustained minimal smoke and fire damage, but both it and the apartment below sustained water damage , Chapman said. At noon, maintenance crews were working to pump out water from both apartments and had set up fans to help dry everything out. No injuries were reported. Fire at Westridge Apartments deemed arson

LUBBOCK, Texas - Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire officials determined  to be arson.  LFR responded to a call at the Westridge Apartments on 1606 Elkhart Avenue. The fire was put out upon their arrival. LFR identified multiple points of ignition in a vacant apartment. "A lot of heavy smoke damage and heat damage," said Allen Martin, a fire investigator with the Lubbock Fire Marshall 's Office. "There was no furniture so it was mostly the carpet and a lot of smoke damage on the walls." According to the apartment complex manager , the apartment has been vacant for several months and no injuries were reported. LFR crews are still investigating. 

Family trapped on roof in KC flooding

KANSAS CITY, MO. — Heavy rains led to extreme flooding in the Kansas City, MO metro area. Kansas City Police Department and Kansas City Fire Department had to conduct multiple rescues . A family of 7, and pet dogs, were stranded on a roof in Overland Park. Advertisement Fire crews responded to the Willow Creek Apartments , located on W 99th Terrace between Wornall and Holmes Roads. Water was reported to be rising up the back of the apartments and has flooded the complex's parking lot. Tenants have decided to shelter in place instead of being evacuated. No injuries have been reported in the area. 19, 627 metro utilities customers are without power. Johnson County Emergency says businesses at 103rd and State Line were in danger in “becoming inundated” by Indian Creek. A flood warning was issued for Indian Creek. The Creek is expected to crest at 28.6 feet, which is higher than July 27. It has already reached a record high of 18.3 feet.

Man found dead in Woodbridge apartment after fire investigation - Story

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - A man was found dead inside his Woodbridge apartment after emergency crews responded for a fire investigation. The fire happened around 11:30 p.m. on Monday at an apartment in the 3500 block of Sherbrooke Circle. During a search of the apartment, crews found an unconscious adult male . The man was later pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of his death is unknown at this time. The investigation is still continuing.

Man dies after apartment fire in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE, VA (WUSA9) - A man died after an apartment fire in Woodbridge, Virginia late Monday night , police said.  Around 11:35 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 3500 block of Sherbrooke Circle to assist the Department of Fire and Rescue with an apartment fire.  Upon searching the apartment, fire crews found an unconscious man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The victim will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination and identification. The identity of the deceased will be released once confirmed and next of kin is notified. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.   © 2017 WUSA-TV

Fire guts apartments in building on East Brighton Ave.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A fire at the Clarendon Heights Apartments gutted several apartments and forced city firefighters to signal a second alarm and call for support. Firefighters were called just before 8 p.m. Wednesday to building 1300 at the apartment complex on Ivy Ridge Road , between Thurber Street and East Brighton Avenue . Crews arrived on the scene and found flames bursting through the roof of the building. More units were called for almost immediately. Emergency vehicles clogged the street leading up to the complex. Firefighters hit the blaze with an aerial ladder truck and several hose lines. The fire was knocked down before 9 p.m., though small flames and sparks could still be seen in the third-floor units that suffered the most damage. It was not clear if there were any injuries, although at least one person was carried from the scene by a medic and placed in an ambulance. Suspected Drunk Driver From Temecula Crashes Into Apartment Complex

MURRIETA, CA — A Temecula woman was arrested Tuesday night for suspicion of driving under the influence after reportedly plowing into a Murrieta apartment complex and creating havoc for the building's residents, according to police. The Murrieta Police Department was called at 8:49 p.m. to the report of a vehicle that crashed into the housing unit near Murrieta Hot Springs Road and Calle Del Lago . Responding officers, along with crews from Murrieta Fire and Rescue, found the woman trapped inside her white, four-door vehicle that was three feet off the ground and wedged into the corner of the building, police said. The driver, Nichole Winters, 41 of Temecula, was extricated from the sedan and determined by officers to be under the influence of alcohol, the agency said. Winters was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta for suspicion of driving under the influence.
