TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Sierra Vista Police Department safely apprehended an armed woman who barricaded herself in her apartment for more than six hours on Wednesday.  Officers responded to Vista Village Apartments  just after three o'clock yesterday for reports of a woman waving a handgun and attempting to break a window outside her neighbor's apartment.  When officers arrived, 63-year-old Gayle Farris had returned to her apartment. Farris would not cooperate with the officers and then barricaded herself in the apartment.  Neighboring apartments were evacuated and SVPD Tactical Unit were called to the scene. Seventh Street from Charles Dr. to Clark Dr. were closed.  Negotiations between Farris and the tactical unit were unsuccessful and less-lethal chemicals were deployed into the apartment from the backyard, Farris fired her handgun twice toward officers.  After hours without communication from Farris, the Cochise County Sheriff 's Office SWAT team was called to assist....

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - In an incident on Wednesday, May 31 the Sierra Vista Police Department was able to safely arrest a woman, who had barricaded herself in her apartment and was armed with a handgun.  According to a news release from the SVPD, Gayle Farris, a 63-year-old resident of Sierra Vista turned herself over to police after a 6-hour stand off that began at 3:15 p.m.   Officers responded to the Vista Village Apartments at 1125 N. Seventh Street for the report of a woman brandishing a handgun and attempting to break the window of a neighboring apartment.  By the time officers arrived Farris had gone into her apartment. According to the release Farris refused to cooperate with officers and barricaded herself inside her apartment.  Neighboring apartments were evacuated and the SVPD Tactical Unit was activated, and Seventh Street was closed form Charles Drive to Clark Drive. She died after being taken to a hospital. One of the 15 bullets that rattled a two- story Gaffney apartment found the back of Bradley’s head while she was on the couch in front of the living room window . Family members said they are trying to figure out who would do such a thing while police officers are interviewing persons of interest. Wallace A. The apartments were built mid-70's, although the maintance is decent here, its age still shows, one nice thing about this place is that you don't need to pay for gas, which means you get all the hot water you want for free, but the stove, and heating and cooling unit are electric. The managment team here is not very good, I find them to rude be at times, not very friendly at all, and the fees for late rent are the highest I have ever seen, one day late is $50! Another problem is the parking, there is plenty of it without assigned parking spots , but if you don't have a pass, or a visitors pass for your car, you are getting towed. They seem to have a contract with The Tow Truck Company , that's the actual name of the business, I had a friend come and visit, he wasn't here not three hours and his car was towed, cost him $275 to get it back, and the messed up part was he came after six when the office was closed, so he couldn't even get a parking pass if he wanted ...
