Jeff Malachowski Daily News Staff @JMalachowskiMW MARLBOROUGH – Firefighters quickly put out a blaze inside an unoccupied residence at the Royal Crest apartments Tuesday afternoon , mostly limiting the damage to that one apartment, said Fire Chief Kevin Breen . A resident of the apartment complex called 911 after seeing smoke emanating from a third-floor balcony of one of the residential buildings at the facility around 12:45 p.m., said Breen. Fire crews arrived moments later and encountered heavy smoke and fire. Firefighters immediately began an aggressive outside attack on the blaze and were able to quickly put it out, said Breen. The apartment was empty, which aided crews in containing the fire to the apartment. Breen said if there had been furniture and other materials in the apartment, the fire could have spread and the damage could have been much worse. “The fire was just ready to break from the area of origin,” said Breen. “We were very fortunate.” The apartment ...

No one was hurt, but seven of those units are completely destroyed . “It moved like a monster,” said Miguel Jimenez. “I pulled up and it was going.” He came home to see his apartment complex up in flames and immediately ran inside to grab his wife and dog. As KWTX reports: The robber, who was armed with a handgun, approached the victim at around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday near the Glen Oaks apartments in the 5100 block of Sanger and demanded money. “The victim pulled his gun and began shooting at the suspect,” Waco police Sgt . FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A woman was taken to the hospital with non- life threatening injuries after being shot in the leg early Sunday morning . Officers were called to the 2400 block of Point West Drive , in West Wind Apartments , just before 5:00 a.m. Sunday after a woman ran out of an apartment yelling that she had been shot. Police at the scene told NewsChannel 15 the first responding officers found several people around the apartment building where the incident took place. Initial reports to officers suggested someone knocked on the door and began firing at people inside when it was opened.
