When members of the Town of Montgomery police department responded to a domestic call in the early morning hours of May 16, the situation turned into a standoff, with the suspect, Anthony Bostick, refusing to come out of his apartment on Abbey Avenue. After hours of negotiations and suicidal comments by Bostick, officers went inside the home. That's when police say Bostick fired at the officers, hitting police chief Arnold Amthor in the shoulder. Officers returned fire , but Bostick wasn't injured; instead, authorities say he shot himself in the bathroom. After the incident, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler held a news conference, revealing the body camera footage from when officers went inside the apartment. On Monday, Hoovler announced the grand jury declined to file charges against the officer who fired shots at Bostick. GILBERT, Ariz. - Some residents who had been evacuated near a major fire in the Phoenix suburb of Gilbert returned home early Sunday . About 60 people were evacuated from the area, according to Diana Rodriguez, a public information officer for the American Red Cross . Evacuees from an apartment complex near the fire were still displaced, she added. Officials said the five- alarm fire began Saturday at an apartment complex under construction and spread to a home near Gilbert and Warner roads, CBS affiliate KPHO reports . LONG BEACH, CA – Eric Arroyo, 31, of Long Beach will face a judge to determine whether or not there is enough evidence to move forward with a trial today. Arroyo is charged with two felony counts each of attempted murder of a peace officer and assault with a firearm upon a peace officer after a shootout he allegedly initiated with police, in which a Long Beach police officer was struck by gunfire from a fellow officer .. The criminal complaint alleges that Arroyo personally and intentionally discharged a firearm. He allegedly fired at a uniformed police officer in the courtyard of a Long Beach apartment complex in June of last year. Three officers returned fire , according to police, and the injured officer and Arroyo suffered what were described by police as “non-life-threatening” wounds in the shootout.
