Jukin Media expands its viral video empire in Culver City

Jukin Media, the company behind viral sensations such as Pizza Rat and Chewbacca Mask Lady , will nearly double its office space in Culver City to produce more original programming off its trove of user- generated video clips . The company, which buys the rights to amateur videos that are shared widely, expects to see a greater percentage of its business shift toward hosted shows that showcase those videos, not unlike an “America’s Funniest Home Videos ,” but for the social media set . The Safdie Brothers Are Classic New York Hustlers. Their Movies Might Make Them Legends.

The Safdie Brothers Are Classic New York Hustlers And their movies might make them legends. Before deciding he wanted to make a Safdie Brothers movie , the erstwhile heartthrob Robert Pattinson hadn ’t actually seen a Safdie Brothers movie . It was one still image — of the lead actress from their 2014 addiction drama Heaven Knows What — that led him to pick up the phone. “He said, ‘I wanna be on a movie set that had the energy that I imagine this had,’” Benny, 31, says. “Little did he know, there was no movie set,” Josh, 33, laughs. The Safdies split a schizophrenic childhood on either side of the East River, with a dutifu...

Most of them, including Uber and Lyft first gained their footing in smaller cities, then made New York their biggest market. Via, the on-demand ride-pooling service, launched here in 2013, is the exception: Its founders chose New York, figuring riders packed together on subways and buses wouldn’t need much persuading to share a car with strangers, especially when it cost just $5. article continues below advertisement App- based transportation startups have flocked t...
