Two townhouses in the Carnegie Hill area of Manhattan's Upper East Side are to be combined into a stunning megamansion, if plans approved by the Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday go ahead. Matthew Harris, a partner at the investment fund Global Infrastructure Partners , bought up 53 and 55 East 92nd Street , just a block and a half from Central Park, with the intention of creating a stunning six- story super mansion . NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio - After numerous 2014 property violations regarding the brick facade and balconies on the Westbury Apartments , located at the corner of North Olmsted Boulevard and Brookpark Road, repair work has begun on the 19- story building . "There's a long history of the Westbury not being responsive to the building officials ' citations and not abating the violations," North Olmsted Assistant Law Director Bryan P. O'Malley said. "So charges were brought against Niederst Management and the Westbury Holdings Company . San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin has asked the city attorney to explore legislation to impose a vacancy tax on large property owners who leave residential and commercial buildings empty . During a supervisors meeting this month, Peskin said he continues to receive complaints about the impact of “ghost buildings” on neighborhoods. The problem is, nobody really knows how many vacant homes there are in the city and whether a vacancy tax would be legal or effective in freeing up much-needed housing. In an interview, Peskin cited a 28- unit apartment building at 1656 Powell St. that was vacated after a fire damaged some units in December 2013. It remains empty. The three-story building is in a prime North Beach location across from Washington Square Park . Residents have begun moving into the River House, a two- building apartment complex at 1785 N. Water St. consisting of 243 units. Developed by Atlanta- based Atlantic Realty Partners , the project marks the first entry into the city for the firm founded by two brothers originally from Whitefish Bay. The company, which has developed approximately 8,000 rental units across the country, has a handful of other developments in the Milwaukee area , including a cluster of buildings on W. Developed by  Max Dermond  and his firm,  Dermond Property Investments , the building will include 69 apartments and 2,600 square-feet of commercial space. The five-story building will consist primarily of one-bedroom apartments. The triangular building is being developed at the southeast corner of S. Kinnickinnic Ave. and E. Two years ago, developer Mike Harrah joined a bid to purchase the Orange County Register out of bankruptcy. The effort ultimately failed . But the flamboyant local construction magnate with a ZZ Top beard still acquired the Register’s Santa Ana real estate , currently vacant after the publication decamped to Anaheim this spring. With the Register gone, Harrah is now embarking on an ambitious $1-billion plan for the 20- acre Grand Avenue site , proposing to build Orange County ’s tallest buildings, more than 1,000 residences, a 171-room hotel, offices and retail shops. In all, Harrah’s Caribou Industries envisions a 2.3-million-square- foot development known as 625IVE that serves as a gateway to historic downtown Santa Ana , where hip restaurants and shops are opening just a mile away.
