Why Data Center REIT CoreSite is Sector Royalty

Image
If you’re a regular reader of DCK Investor Edge , you know that investors who own data center REIT shares have seen better rewards year-to-date compared to more traditional commercial real estate asset classes like office, retail, apartments, net-lease, and healthcare. Data centers sit squarely at the intersection of real estate and technology, providing space, power, and access to networks and cloud service providers that attract coveted enterprise customers . When it comes to the various REIT sub-sectors, data centers sit squarely at the top, while the broader real estate sector is treading water, down 0.6 percent. Travel Agent Plans Pricey (and Tricky) Trips for Corporate CEOs and Former U.S. Presidents – Skift

In the era of the humble brag, it’s harder than ever to know how your boss travels. Assuming he or she is the type that likes to share, you might see a suggestion of a private jet or a swanky beach resort on Instagram—or hear one unassuming story about the sea turtles that swam under the paddleboard in St. Barthelemy. Unfortunately for your water cooler conversations , no chief executive officer is ever going to spill the beans on his  favorite private island , the extent of his security detail, or the lengths his assistant went to procure Coke Zero in Madagascar. For that, we turned to Jaclyn Sienna India , president and founder of the decade-old travel consultancy Sienna Charles . Almost immediately after hanging a shingle on West Palm Beach ’s ritzy Worth Avenue in 2008, India got her lucky break: An unexpectedly productive, $25,000 ad with the Explorer’s Club turned out her first billionaire client, and word of mouth turned one into many. Outside investors target tertiary markets for better yields

Local investors beware: Central Pennsylvania is on the map for outside groups looking for higher returns. Last month, The Solomon Organization , a New Jersey-based operator of multifamily properties, closed on a $25.7 million purchase of the newly built Ivy Ridge Apartments in Swatara Township . That price — $117,913 per unit — is the highest in the Harrisburg market this year. It also marked the company's first foray into the Harrisburg area after landing in Lancaster County six years ago. It owns six communities in Lancaster County and more than 1,200 units. "Two years ago, you said 'Harrisburg' and people would just hang up the phone," said Zachary Pierce, director of the National Multi Housing Group in Philadelphia for Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services . Outside investors were interested only in primary markets such as New York City and Washington, D.C., and maybe Philadelphia, he said. But as prices have shot up in those prime areas, th...

French police say arrest unrelated to attack

BARCELONA, Spain The Latest on the Spain attacks (all times local): 11:30 p.m. Police in the southern French city of Nimes have arrested a man unlawfully carrying a pistol into a train station, but say he is not linked to the attacks in Barcelona. After an evacuation and police operation at the train station Saturday night , the historic city quickly returned to normal, with police returning to their posts. A national police spokesman said the operation began when a passenger alerted police to a man with a weapon. Police quickly found and arrested him, said the spokesman, who was not authorized to be publicly named. The spokesman said the man has no apparent connection to Thursday's attacks around Barcelona, about 380 kilometers southwest of Nimes. French authorities increased checks of its border with Spain after the attacks, and one suspect is believed at large. 10:50 p.m. Catalan regional police say they are mounting major road blocks throughout the northeastern regio...
