CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A Lyndhurst hotel and a pair of projects that will bring nearly 500 apartments to Cleveland won financing support Tuesday from the Cleveland- Cuyahoga County Port Authority . The port's board signed off on nearly $200 million in real estate- related bond transactions , setting the stage for construction to start within months on a trio of projects. The agency acts as a conduit for development financing, issuing bonds and helping to structure deals that involve longer terms , lower interest rates or cheaper construction materials than a borrower might find in the private market. Tuesday's headline deals were: A  Hyatt Place hotel and a 355- space parking garage at the Legacy Village shopping center in Lyndhurst. Sandy Springs, Ga. — Crescent Communities has secured financing for a multifamily rental community now underway in metro Atlanta’s Perimeter neighborhood. The property, Crescent Perimeter , will consist of 320 apartments, ranging from one to three bedrooms. Located at 5755 Glenridge Road in Sandy Springs, Ga., Crescent Perimeter will be four and five stories surrounding a parking deck within the 26- acre Lakeside office park just north of I-285. Crescent Communities expects the first residents to move into Crescent Perimeter in the third quarter of 2018. The Central Perimeter business district is a major regional center that’s recently attracted a number of major companies, including the headquarters of Mercedes-Benz USA, State Farm and The Weather Channel. One Manhattan Square, Extell’s 800-foot skyscraper that’s currently rising on the Lower East Side, began going vertical last year, and progress on the tower has been fairly swift since then. Now, new photos, both from Tectonic (h/t YIMBY) and NY Construction Photo , give a sense of how much construction has progressed since the tower began its rise. The skyscraper, located at 252 South Street, is impossible to miss; it dwarfs the other buildings in the neighborhood, and as you can see in the photo above, it towers over the Manhattan Bridge, too. The last time we checked in, back in November, it was just a third of the way to its 80-story pinnacle; now, it’s close to topping out, per a spokesperson for Extell. Here’s some real estate news of possible interest. Three properties on Towering Heights Boulevard in south St. Catharines recently sold for $37.7 million. Real estate records show the seller was George Wakil and Company Ltd. of White Oaks Resort and Spa fame; the buyer was Kingston- based Homestead Land Holdings Ltd. The key piece was the 135- unit Crown Tower apartment building , which, at 17 storeys, is St. Catharines’ tallest edifice. I doubt which company owns what apartment complex in the city is of much interest to anyone but residents of the buildings. And, for all I know, maybe these dwellings change hands on a regular basis. What makes this transaction potentially interesting for a broader audience, though, is the state of the other two parcels. They’re vacant, raw land. The larger piece, on the northwest corner of Towering Heights Boulevard and Glen Morris Drive , is 4.42 acres. The smaller one, across the boulevard, is 2.48 acres. He was the third of four children. His father’s work brought them to Long Island and a year living abroad in Venezuela. His parents’ divorce led his mother and her children back to her hometown in Salamanca, New York. Steven’s interest in building was evident at an early age — if he didn’t have it, he would build it. He was an athlete — football quarterback, basketball guard, pole-vaulter. Pole vaulting incorporated speed , strength, suspension, and physics. It thrilled him so much that he constructed his own bar and pit in the backyard. He practiced diligently and made it to the state level in competition.
