AFL-CIO HIT Celebrates Grand Re-Opening Of Senior Housing At Chicago's Kenmore Plaza Apartments

CHICAGO , Aug. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The AFL- CIO Housing Investment Trust (HIT) today celebrated the grand re-opening of the Kenmore Plaza Apartments , which recently completed an extensive $61 million rehabilitation. The 28-story, 324-unit building provides affordable housing exclusively to the elderly. The rehabilitation work included reducing the operating costs of the building by installing durable and easy to maintain materials and energy efficient equipment , improving energy and water efficiency over the long term, as well as upgrading the current residential units , floor hallways, interior ground floor , and building exteriors and the construction of a small addition to the existing structure. The HIT provided $22.9 million of financing through the purchase of Ginnie Mae construction loan certificates and a permanent loan certificate . Some forced to move as Ann Arbor-area apartments transition from affordable to market rate

Megan Mishler has lost her sense of security. Mishler, who has a rare genetic condition called Ehlers -Danlos Syndrome that prevents her from working, was recently forced to move from her apartment just west of Ann Arbor because her landlord is transitioning from affordable housing to market rate. Mishler is not alone; the transition will impact 144 units at the 368- unit Woodchase apartment complex at 1100 Rabbit Run Circle in Scio Township. “This has been extremely, extremely difficult. I was almost paralyzed at first,” Mishler said, referring to when she learned she would have to move. “This just added a whole other layer on top of all the other stuff that I’m already dealing with.” Mishler was told the rent for her one-bedroom apartment would jump from $770 per month to about $1,200 per month at the end of her lease term. Jaypee buyers want clarity on investment, post-insolvency suit | Noida News

NOIDA: Homebuyers from various projects of Jaypee Wish Town gathered outside the realtor's corporate office in Sector 128 on Friday and demanded clarity on the financial impact of the insolvency suit on their investments. The National Company Law Tribunal had on Wednesday admitted insolvency proceedings against Jaypee Infratech, filed by IDBI Bank. While the corporate office told the buyers that their houses will be delivered on time, they demanded an explanation as to how Jaypee Infratech went insolvent. The buyers said they would take out a procession from Sector 128 to Gautam Budh Nagar SSP 's office in Sector 14 on Saturday, demanding an answer as to what happened to the FIRs registered against the developer in April this year. Jaypee had in April made a commitment to the buyers and the Noida Authority that all its pending apartments would be handed over by 2020.
