Washington Park apartment towers will rise to near-LoDo heights

DENVER -- A pair of apartment towers coming to Cherry Creek will be among the state’s tallest buildings outside of LoDo, the developer said this week.

The two 30-story, 300-foot-tall structures are slated for 1001 E. Bayud St., the current site of Country Club Gardens, the Denver Business Journal reported. The 501,000-square-foot structures will contain some 550 apartments, The Broe Group said.

For comparison, The Curtis in LoDo stands 350 feet tall, while Republic Plaza is the tallest building in the Mountain States at 728 feet.

About 20 percent of the existing 1940s-era apartments on the 6.5-acre parcel will be removed, according to the Business Journal. The remaining units will be updated.

The project can likely go forward without any more public hearings. The builder got pre-approval for the towers some 12 years ago, according to the Business Journal.
