Summerville. SC–  Summerville Fire, Old Fort Fire Department, North Charleston Fire Department and Dorchester County EMS are on scene of a working apartment fire at 1210 Boone Hill Road in Summerville.  Crews arrived to find heavy fire from a reported two story multi family apartment building with reported entrapment. Unconfirmed reports on scene stated that a juvenile and adult were pulled from the fire by bystanders. The fire is reported under control with crews remaining on scene for overhaul. Our news partner WCIV ABC News 4 is on the way and should have more on this breaking story.

There’s a big demand for more affordable housing in Charlotte, where rents and home prices have shot up much faster than wages over the past few years. Many of the apartments being built now target more affluent renters, waitlists for housing vouchers are long and starter homes are snapped up almost immediately.
