Student faces drug charges after traffic stop | Campus
A Purdue student faces multiple drug charges after being stopped for an alleged traffic violation early Wednesday morning.
Slater M. Burge, 22 of Indianapolis, is a senior in the Krannert School of Management. He was pulled over near the intersection of Stadium and Northwestern avenues just after midnight, according to a release from the Purdue News Service.
Purdue police say they received consent to search Burge’s vehicle, where they found pills, marijuana and a “significant amount of cash,” per the release.
After receiving a warrant, officers searched Burge’s residence in Hilltop Apartments; they allegedly found pills, marijuana, paraphernalia and a large amount of cash.
Burge was preliminarily charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, dealing marijuana and a Schedule III drug, and possession of marijuana, paraphernalia and a scheduled or controlled substance, the release said; he was being held on a $15,000 surety bond.
The release said the Tippecanoe County Prosecutor’s Office has taken over the case.
