Philly rent comparison: What $1,100 rents right now
Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a dive into the options available for a certain price point in various Philly neighborhoods. Is one person’s townhouse another’s studio? Let’s find out! This week’s price point: $1,100 a month.
Rittenhouse (1 bed, 1 bath)—Clocking in at 400 square feet, this Rittenhouse rental is no doubt the tiniest apartment on this list—there is no living room. But: Location! The recently renovated unit in a beautiful building is located right at 23rd and Spruce, which puts you near Rittenhouse Square and Schuylkill River Park.
Powelton (2 beds, 1 bath)—This Powelton rental at 20 N. 40th Street sits above a pharmacy and offers the very basics, including shared laundry in the basement. The kitchen is tiny, but manageable, though its comes sans dishwasher. The good news is that it’s location puts you a block away from 40th Street Station on the El.
Kensington (2 beds, 1 bath)—The listing says this cozy spot is in Fishtown, but it’s technically outside of the neighborhood’s official border in Kensington. Regardless, it’s a short walk to the Huntingdon station on the El. The two-bedroom rental has access to basement laundry and a back patio, too.
Brewerytown (1 beds, 1 bath)—For the last stop, look to this one-bedroom rental in Brewerytown that’s located right on the edge of Girard College. The unit is located on the lower level, but there’s a big bay window that still lets in a lot of light. In addition to all new appliances and finishes, there is in-unit laundry and a private balcony.
Olney (3 beds, 2 baths)—If you’re on the hunt for room to spare, head up to North Philly’s Olney neighborhood, where this entire rowhome is up for grabs. The three-bedroom home was recently renovated and just had a new paint job, and there’s both a front patio and backyard. You’ll have to look elsewhere for a dishwasher.
