No injuries in Lincoln Park restaurant building fire
No one was injured in a fire at a Lincoln Park restaurant building Tuesday evening, fire officials said.
The fire at 1633 N. Halsted St., which houses the restaurant Balena Chicago and apartments on upper floors, started about 6:50 p.m. and was declared under control about an hour later, according to the Chicago Fire Department’s media office.
The fire started in the building’s roof and spread to other parts of the structure, which is next door to the Royal George Theatre.
The smoky fire covered the area, which includes the Steppenwolf Theatre and other entertainment spots, in smoke.
