McCord Development Expects Move To Generation Park In Late August


HUMBLE, TX — Nestled along the growing area outside Humble, Texas, and along a stretch of East Beltway 8, is one of the fastest growing communities in the Houston area.

Generation Park is quietly becoming home to large companies such as TechnipFMC, which opened their new campus there in 2016.

And now, McCord Development Inc., which owns Generation Park, is building its own headquarters across the street from TechnipFMC.

McCord Development has been acquiring land in North Houston since 1985.

In 1995, McCord was the original developer of Summerwood, a thriving 1,541-acre master-planned community that is adjacent to the north of Generation Park.

Since then, Generation Park has seen a flurry or retail development in the northern segments of the 4,000 acre campus, as well as plans from San Jacinto College and Lone Star College to develop work force education facilities there.

In July 2016, McCord Development broke ground on Redemption Square, a mixed-used development, and its headquarters building, located at 250 Assay St.

Redemption Square will include restaurants and retail on the ground floor, and corporate offices for McCord Development on the second floor, with Apache Industrial Services on the fourth and fifth floors.

The third floor has not yet been leased, but officials at McCord Development don’t feel the space will be vacant too much longer.

Ian Adler, McCord’s Market Director, toured the headquarters facility with members of Integrate, a Houston-based public relations agency and members of the media in July.

Construction is moving along quickly enough that McCord Development is planning its move from downtown Houston to 250 Assay St.. “We actually plan to move in by the end of August,” Adler said. “This building is substantially complete. I know it doesn’t look like it, but we’re moving pretty quick.” Construction crews work on infrastrucure outside 250 Assay St. (Bryan Kirk/Patch Staff)The area is reminiscent of the Woodlands waterway, with an upscale apartment complex planned across the street, and a Marriott hotel that will be break ground next door to 250 Assay Street later this year.
The ground floor, which Adler called "the jewel box" is a glass enclosed area reserved for restaurants and retail, with dining areas inside and out. The patio will also have an area for music and enterainment, and allow space for pleny of foot traffic, Adler said. A sign across the street makes the spot where McCord lans to develop an apartment complex, which Adler told Patch will be managed by McCord Development. Parents of Student Murdered by Maintenance Man Sue Apartment Complex

He pleaded guilty to murder late last year, now the case of a maintenance worker who killed a Blinn student is back in court. The parents of 20-year-old Jenna Verhaalen are suing the Bryan apartment complex where she was killed. Verhaalen was strangled at the Autumn Woods Apartments in 2008, by 27-year-old maintenance worker Jeremiah Rosser . The suit claims Autumn Woods ignored complaints made about Rosser. Specifically, a complaint they claim Jenna made to Rosser's boss, when he entered her apartment while she was in the shower. The suit alleges the complex's negligence led to Jenna's death. Attorneys for Autumn woods said management had no reason to believe Rosser was a risk. However, that's not what the complex's corporate office told News Three in 2008.
