A rabble-rouser is raising the ire of East Village residents with a rebel flag. Angry neighbors tossed rocks and hurled insults Wednesday at the windows of an E. Eighth St. apartment where a pair of Confederate flags were draped, backlit by bright lights. Cops blocked off the area outside the building around 11 p.m. and were trying to talk to the tenant, according to Mike Schweinsberg, the ABCD block association president . “We don’t want a riot here,” Schweinsberg said. Dozens of neighbors crowded along lines of police tape to gawk at the banners. A video obtained by the Daily News shows a man lobbing rocks at the sixth-floor windows of the building, on the corner of Avenue D, earlier in the day. The NYPD said no arrests were made at the address. The Confederate flags, joined by Israeli and American flags, have been hanging in the windows for more than a year, but recent violence in Virginia has brought new meaning to the symbols, neighbors said

TULSA, Oklahoma - An early morning fire at the Sand Dollar Apartments in Tulsa killed a 1-year-old child and left a 7-year-old in critical condition. We're working to learn more about the baby. Tulsa Police say they're not investigating the fire because it wasn't a criminal act.  The call came in around 2:15 Friday morning at the Sand Dollar Apartments near 61st and Riverside. Crews arrived to find the fire burning at the south end of the complex. Firefighters said they had to pull five people out including three children. Don Pearce said he made it out by himself. "I was sleeping in the reclining, just trying to go to sleep, when the next thing I know, someone's banging on the door talking about a fire," said Don Pearce. All six victims were taken to Tulsa hospitals where three were first said to be in serious condition. The City Council is expected to approve a rezoning today that will allow a 180-unit, $20. 7 million upscale apartment development called the Meadowood Apartments to be constructed off North Military Highway . Private landlords tend to either go overboard to make sure stuff is ok or are worse than a professionally run management company . Also, you have to figure that only people with a grudge write stuff . The many more satisfied customers never leave a note. Best suggestion is to interview the private owners, get the names of former tenants and ask questions, look at each place critically, understand that it will be a dorm for all intents and purposes and make your most informed decision. I would not rent sight unseen . He should make a trip to view the various units in person before signing any lease. Good luck

Aurora police said the man is Adeeb Mohammed. At around 2 a.m., Aurora police received a report of a man with a gun at the Silverbrook Apartments, at 15453 E. First Ave., police said. A resident who heard a fight in the parking lot told police that he saw a man with a gun when he looked out the window. When officers arrived at the scene, a man told them that the suspect had pointed a shotgun at him and also hit him with the gun. When officers learned the identity of the suspect, they discovered there was a warrant for his arrest for attempted homicide, police said. "It's a religious center , it's a cultural center and it's the last cultural center of the whole Valley," said Paul Gilbert, the attorney of those who want to preserve the center. Luis Eudoro Valencia , of Perris, allegedly had the tiger cub - which is protected under the Endangered Species Act - in his vehicle when he drove a 2017 Chevy Camaro into the Otay Mesa Port of Entry at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The tiger cub was discovered during a secondary inspection, on the floor of the front passenger side of the Chevy, authorities said. Tragedy strikes van crossing river Published on: Tuesday, August 15, 2017 Kota Kinabalu: An Indonesian woman became the first casualty of the current inclement weather when the van she was travelling in with nine Japanese tourists was swept away by strong currents while crossing the Sungai Kg Lingan Lama in Kabang, Papar, Sunday night. The 34-year-old sustained serious injuries when she was pinned under the van in the 8.23pm incident and was pronounced dead at 11pm at the Papar Hospital, according to APM ( Civil Defence Force ).
