And in London this means rooftop ventilation systems –well, sort of. This year the Architecture Foundation, a design advocacy group based in the United Kingdom, invited architects to come up with creative and sustainable housing alternatives for its Antepavilion competition. Beginning in 2008, in the midst of one of the nation's worst housing markets ever, Royal Oaks at Pea Ridge has taken shape in stages. First, Coughenour and his partners — Dave Tarter and Pat Hootch — built 16 apartment units. They followed that with 48 more units and then another 32. Grease left unattended on a stove sparked a fire in a Rancho Cucamonga apartment Sunday night , March 1, officials said. The fire was reported at 8:44 p.m. on the second floor of a three- story apartment complex in the 10400 block of Arrow Highway, said Kelley Donaldson, spokeswoman for the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District . A neighbor from the unit above used an extinguisher to help control the fire before firefighters arrived, Donaldson said. About 20 firefighters contained the fire in less than 10 minutes. Damage was confined to the kitchen, she said. Three displaced residents, all male students at a nearby vocational school , Universal Technical Institute , won’t be allowed to return until repairs are made, Donaldson said. The school will find lodging for them in the meantime, she said. No one was injured. Firefighters briefly evacuated the 12- unit apartment building , she said.

One man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed at Water’s Edge Apartments near City Hall Thursday night , authorities said. The stabbing happened at about 11 p.m. at the complex in the 400 block of West Central, Officer Charley Davidson said. The 24-year-old victim, who was critically injured, was taken to a hospital for treatment. An investigation revealed two group of people who know each other got into a dispute over money, which led to the victim being stabbed. Police have identified suspects in the case. The investigation is continuing.
