Deandre Skillern came forward to identify himself as the father. He said he did not know girlfriend Sidney Woytasczyk, 21, was pregnant

The footage was released on Friday after a man appeared at a custody hearing identifying himself as the father.

Deandre Skillern said the 6 pounds 13 ounce tot was his after police tracked him and girlfriend Sidney Woytasczyk, 21 to their house.

The court heard that a trail of blood led them to their address at Cypress Creek apartments, where Woytasczyk allegedly confessed to giving birth to the child.

Skillern and Woytasczyk's mother Tina said they were not aware the young woman was pregnant.

A grand jury will see the case next week to decide if the pair will be charged.

The baby girl is being treated for a bacterial infection and a rapid heart rate in hospital.

She was found at 5am on Thursday by neighbour Albert Peterson who heard crying from the pavement — which he first thought was a cat.

He told local Channel 2 News: "She was there on the ground in the flower bed with ants.

"She was covered from head to toe and all in her ears... She had a lot of strength too. She was fighting."

Harris County Deputy Thomas Gilliland said: "Had this neighbour not been here, we'd be looking at a homicide. It's a miracle the child was found."
