Woman wanted in 2015 New Orleans killing arrested in Texas

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- New Orleans police say a woman accused in a killing nearly two years ago has been arrested in Houston.Police say in a news release that Harris County, Texas, sheriff's deputies arrested 24-year-old Shanta Massey on Sunday. The arrest came after New Orleans investigators learned she was in a Houston apartment complex. Police say they have a warrant for her arrest in the shooting of 25-year-old Jeren Johnson. Johnson was a passenger in a Nissan Altima that ran into a parked Ford truck on Dec. 6, 2015. Investigators found that the car's driver was wounded and Johnson was dead. Police say the warrant accuses Massey of second-degree murder, which would mean an automatic life sentence if she's charged and convicted.

It overlooks tiny Abingdon Square Park, and has a large fireplace, soundproof windows, high ceilings, a walk-in closet and access to the communal landscaped roof terrace . There’s a big demand for more affordable housing in Charlotte, where rents and home prices have shot up much faster than wages over the past few years. Many of the apartments being built now target more affluent renters, waitlists for housing vouchers are long and starter homes are snapped up almost immediately.
