Man shot multiple times outside Syracuse apartment complex, police say

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A man was found with several gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a city apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.

At 2:08 p.m. officers, firefighters and paramedics responded to Ivy Ridge Road for a report of shooting there, Syracuse police said.

When officers got there they found a 33-year-old man in the parking lot of Ivy Ridge Apartments. Police said the man, who they did not identify, had gunshot wounds to his leg and the side of his face.

The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital by Rural Metro ambulance. Police said the man's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Part of the parking lot between apartment buildings 402 and 404 Ivy Ridge Road remained blocked by police tape after the shooting. A blood-splattered towel and pile of clothing rested on the pavement near a discarded medical glove. An officer at the scene said the victim had been conscious and breathing when officers arrived.

Police said the only suspect information they had was a "male, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt."

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact 315-442-5222. Tips can also be submitted using the "SPD Tips" App.

Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the shooting happened at Clarendon Heights apartment complex, Ivy Ridge Road.
