Gangster Disciple faces life without parole as repeat offender

MARIETTA, GA. - An alleged member of the Gangster Disciples street gang, who have a long history in the metro Atlanta area, is facing life in prison for his role in a 2015 murder in Austell.

A Cobb jury found that Darius Jarrell Dunn, 25, was one of two shooters involved in the death of Anthony Tavarez at an apartment complex on Shenandoah Trail.

Tavarez, 23, was shot in the back during an armed robbery shortly after midnight on Sept. 16, 2015.

Two codefendants pled guilty to their roles in the case as the trial was scheduled to begin. All three defendants are associated with the gang, prosecutors say.
