He Broke Into Cars, Urinated On Vehicles: Police

JOLIET, IL - For the second time in ten days, the Joliet Police Department has arrested 55-year-old Timothy G. Roderick in connection with attempted car break-ins near the Twin Oaks apartments. But Friday's early morning arrest was different than his last. This time, police officials said, Roderick was also urinating on vehicles near one of the apartment buildings.

Joliet police officers arrested Roderick at 12:01 a.m. on felony charges of committing burglary to a motor vehicle and two misdemeanors, criminal trespass to a vehicle and disorderly conduct. Shortly before midnight, one of the Twin Oaks tenants noticed Roderick inside her friend's vehicle, going through the center console. Police were called. While officers were in route, Roderick was seen checking the door handles for at least eight other nearby vehicles, police said. Tenants also saw Roderick urinating on vehicles near one of the apartment buildings in the 100 block of Twin Oaks. When officers arrived, they were given a suspect description. It didn't take long to realize Roderick was their likely culprit.

Less than 10 days ago, Roderick was cited on charges of disorderly conduct after a woman told police that Roderick tried to break into her locked vehicle near the Twin Oaks apartments. In an event, officers walked into one of the apartment buildings around midnight and found Roderick inside his apartment, which is also in the 100 block of Twin Oaks. Roderick matched the suspect's description and was later positively identified by the victims of Thursday night's auto burglaries, police said.

Roderick was taken away and put in the back of a squad car. On Friday, he remained incarcerated at the Will County Adult Detention Center. Booking logs indicate that Roderick was also arrested by Joliet police in October 2015 on a third DUI offense, reckless driving and failure to notify damage to an unattended vehicle.
