Masked intruders with baseball bats caught by police: Brunswick Police Blotter

 

BRUNSWICK ---  Menacing, Stonybrook Lane: Four men and a woman were arrested for menacing at 5:15 p.m. Aug. 8 after they were seen getting out of a silver Toyota Victim "carrying baseball bats and wearing bandannas over their faces," according to witnesses. The suspects then began screaming and threatening a tenant at Laurel Hill apartments, while pounding on his apartment door. The victim recognized the suspects and the victim's girlfriend said she saw one of the men pull a handgun from a grocery bag. The car was located a short time later and a baseball bat, a bandana and marijuana was found inside. One of the men admitted to going to the apartment to confront the victim "about stolen money," reports said. No guns were found in the car and the suspects all denied having a gun. Four of the five suspects were but were charged with menacing. One, whose involvement was unclear due to conflicting accounts, was not charged. One of the men was taken to the Medina County Jail after failing to post bond and the remaining three charged suspects were released with a court summons.

Theft, Bennington Boulevard: A resident reported his $600 mountain bike stolen overnight Aug. 10. The 27-speed "Giant Roam" model bike was left unlocked on the bike rack of the victim's car at the time of the theft. Police reported another bicycle theft between 8 p.m. and 9:24 p.m. Aug. 8 from a bike rack at Brunswick High School. BHS officials were reviewing surveillance footage for evidence of the theft of the neon green, 20-inch Kent mountain bike at the time of the report. It is not known if police are considering the two thefts related.

Drunkenness, Hadcock Road: Police were called to the area of Hadcock Road at Walters Drive at 5:48 p.m. Aug. 13 for a report of a man "walking and stumbling through yards and near the roadway." The man was located on Ruth Drive, near Charlotte Drive and was found to be highly intoxicated. He later registered .260 percent blood-alcohol content - more than three times the legal limit for intoxication. He was cited for disorderly conduct and taken home by police.

Disturbance, Edgebrook Drive: Police were called to a loud party at an apartment 12:21 a.m. Aug. 11. Police saw "several juveniles run inside and lock the door" when they arrived. Multiple chairs appeared to have been thrown from the balcony and were found on the ground outside the apartment, reports said. Several neighbors told police that loud parties at the apartment are an ongoing issue. Police were unable to contact the apartment owner at the time of the report.

Breaking and entering, Rocklyn Drive: A yard maintenance worker hired to do work at a vacant home in the 1800 block of Rocklyn Drive reported finding the hot water tank missing and copper lines feeding the tank cut at 5:54 p.m. Aug. 11. A neighbor told police that two or three weeks prior he had seen a gray Ford Ranger next to the house and two black men removing appliances from inside. Police found no sign of forced entry on any of the exterior doors or windows.

Drug possession, Pearl Road: Police investigated a suspicious car in the parking lot of Christie's Cabaret at 1:51 a.m. Aug. 11 and found the driver in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was cited and released.
