12-year-old Orion Township boy arrested after allegedly hitting teen with baseball bat

A fist fight between two boys, ages 12 and 14, Monday night turned more violent when the younger one allegedly hit the older boy with a baseball bat, leading to his arrest.

Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Oak Forest Apartments in the 100 block of Casemer Road in Orion Township shortly before 10 p.m. after several residents reported hearing the sound of fighting from inside one of the apartments. Deputies say witnesses told them the younger boy provoked the fight in the parking lot and the two exchanged punches. After they separated, the 12-year-old returned with a baseball bat and hit the 14-year-old in the knee. A witness took the bat from the younger boy.

Paramedics treated the 14-year-old for injuries and then transported him to a hospital for further medical evaluation. The 12-year-old was lodged at Children’s Village pending an intake hearing. Detectives are investigating the incident.
