KALAMAZOO, MI – The Lake Forest Apartments on West Main Street in Kalamazoo were sold on Oct. 31 and have taken on a new name.

Greenhill Apartments is the new name of the 40-acre development on West Main, just west of Fletcher Avenue. The name identifies the property with new owner Greenhill Partners Real Estate, of suburban Philadelphia.

Dial Equities, a part of Omaha, Neb.-based DEI Communities, sold the property. DEI owns and operates apartment communities throughout the central United States.

Greenhill Partners, of King of Prussia. Pa., is a real estate investment and development company that specializes in the acquisition, development, construction, financing and the management of student housing apartments, according to online sources.

There was no immediate word from Greenhill about what, if any, changes are planned under new ownership. Or whether Greenhill plans to refocus the property to attract more student residents from Western Michigan University and Kalamazoo College.

With a nature trail, clubhouse, swimming pool, fireplaces, garages, fitness center and other amenities, Lake Forest Apartments has marketed itself as a luxury apartment complex. Its units rent for anywhere from about $690 per month to more than $1,400 per month.
