Here’s some real estate news of possible interest. Three properties on Towering Heights Boulevard in south St. Catharines recently sold for $37.7 million. Real estate records show the seller was George Wakil and Company Ltd. of White Oaks Resort and Spa fame; the buyer was Kingston- based Homestead Land Holdings Ltd. The key piece was the 135- unit Crown Tower apartment building , which, at 17 storeys, is St. Catharines’ tallest edifice. I doubt which company owns what apartment complex in the city is of much interest to anyone but residents of the buildings. And, for all I know, maybe these dwellings change hands on a regular basis. What makes this transaction potentially interesting for a broader audience, though, is the state of the other two parcels. They’re vacant, raw land. The $ 79 million Woodside Village project , a redevelopment plan that will add hundreds of apartments and retail space to Westwood, is underway more than two years after receiving city approval for tax breaks. The project being built by Los Angeles-based Tanner & White is a big addition to Westwood, a small (pop. 1,500) inner-ring suburb in northeast Johnson County . Its City Council authorized up to $20 million in tax incentives to subsidize the project in late 2011. Developer Blair Tanner said it took a while to arrange the financing and coordinate the project with improvements made to the Woodside Health and Tennis Club, but work is beginning this week. The $26 million first phase calls for a four-story building with 91 luxury apartments on the upper floors and 20,000 square feet of retail space on the first level. The asking price for this apartment is (*insert The Price Is Right -style pause here*) $540,000. The closest guess was the second one: omarrr went with $535,000. The apartment itself is located at 633 East 11th Street , between Avenues B and C—so yes, firmly in Alphabet City, which knocked it down a peg for some commenters. Officers arrived at 223 East 89th Street between Second and Third avenues shortly after 10:30 to discover a 43-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive, police said. The man was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS, police said. The city Medical Examiner will investigate the man's exact cause of death, police said. The man's identify was not released by police. ORLANDO, Fla. - Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze at an apartment complex near the University of Central Florida. No one was injured in the fire, which broke out around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday at The Glenn Apartments on Heather Ridge Circle near University Boulevard and Rouse Road. According to Orange County Fire Rescue , a three- story apartment building that's being renovated was evacuated because of the blaze.  "2nd Alarm BLD, Heather Ridge Ci , smoke & fire from apt bld, being evac'd," OCFR tweeted. Video from Local 6 helicopter Sky 6 showed flames shooting from the building before firefighters extinguished it. The cause of the fire is under investigation. "We are working to find new homes for each resident who has been affected by the fire.  To address immediate needs, we have secured hotel accommodations for all residents who have been displaced," apartment officials said. PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- A murder charge has been filed against a 34-year-old man who walked into the Portland police station to report there was a dead body inside an apartment in the Goose Hollow neighborhood .Sgt. Chris Burley says investigators found a man's body inside the apartment Tuesday and determined it was a homicide. Paris James McConville was booked into jail. Court records don 't list an attorney to speak on his behalf. According to court documents, McConville told jailers he recently returned to Portland after being homeless in Pendleton, and the deceased man was a friend he has known for about 10 years. Police have not released the victim's name. An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.

CONCORD, NH — Concord Fire and Rescue teams were sent to a multi-family unit on Rumford Street for a report of smoke coming from an apartment this afternoon, according to alerts online. NH Fire Alarm reported that smoke was reportedly seen from an apartment when firefighters arrived to 74 Rumford St., according to the post on Twitter at around 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2017. The husband of a woman who plunged to her death from a Benidorm balcony is begging for a mystery witness to come forward. Kirsty Maxwell , 28, tragically died after falling from the 10th floor of an apartment block while on a hen do in April. Adam is now desperately trying to find a woman who was staying on the same floor and may have witnessed the incident, the Daily Record reports .
