ORIGINAL STORY: Tense moments occurred at a north Bismarck apartment building Tuesday evening.

Police evacuated a building at Sunset Ridge Apartment complex on Koch Drive around 7:30 p.m.

A SWAT team arrived and police sent a robot into the building.

Police say they were dealing with a situation and may have been looking for someone on the first floor.

An armored vehicle and agents in tactical gear surrounded the apartment.

Residents say they were surprised to see something like this happening in Bismarck.

"I didn't realize Bismarck had a truck like that, cause it's like what you see on news reports of Ferguson of the riots. They all have big black trucks and a whole bunch of gunners on top. I didn't even think Bismarck had something like that. It looked like a martial law scene or something. It was crazy," said Matthew Dockter, apartment complex resident.

Police started allowing people back into their apartments around 9 p.m.
