Summerville man charged in shooting death of man found dead outside area apartment complex | News

Police arrested a man they say shot and killed a Summerville man in front of the Gates of Summerville Apartments on Sunday evening.

Wayne Jamal Pinckney, 21, of Boonehill Road in Summerville, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He remains held at the Dorchester County Detention Center following his Sunday arrest, authorities said.

Pinckney shot the male victim, who has not been identified, at least once, police said.

Police were called to the apartment complex located at 1225 Boonehill Road at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday where they found the deceased in front of Building I. Pinckney was found nearby.

A magistrate set bail at $100,000 on the weapons charge, however, magistrates in South Carolina may not set a bond for defendants charged with murder.
