Police: College Station man threatened neighbor with machete | Local News

A College Station man was arrested Monday night after police say he threatened his neighbor with a machete.

According to College Station police, a man called 911 around 8:30 p.m. Monday and said someone was attacking his stepfather with a machete. Police responded to an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Longmire Drive and spoke with Larry Darnell Moody, 66, and another man.

The man said he had arrived home from shopping and saw his wife outside arguing with Moody, who is the couple's neighbor. The woman said Moody had offered the couple's children cigarettes, and the victim said he told Moody that if he caught him trying to give the children tobacco, there would be "a problem." According to a police report, Moody then picked up a machete and raised it in the air. The report states Moody told officers he was defending himself.

No injuries were reported.

Moody is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. He was released from the Brazos County Jail on $10,000 bond.
