No one hurt when car hits apartments | News

No one was hurt in a freak car accident last month that damaged a Dandridge apartment complex.

Dandridge Police responded on July 20 at 7:15 p.m. to Twin Oaks Way, where a 2015 Honda Accord had crashed into the Twin Oaks Apartment complex, Officer Michael Ramsey reported.

Neither the 67-year-old driver, a 57-year-old passenger, nor anyone inside the building was injured. However, residents of the complex reported that some apartments had to be evacuated for repairs.

Ramsey reported that he was unable to determine whether the accelerator of the car had stuck or if the driver had mistakenly pressed the gas.

The driver was pulling into a parking space in the lot of Building 816 when the accident occurred. She told the officer that she applied the brakes, but the vehicle accelerated. She added that there have been several recalls on the vehicle, and that it has “not been looked at,” according to the officer’s report.
