West Springfield police probe death of man, found with hypodermic needle and syringe, at Crestwood Apartments

WEST SPRINGFIELD -- Foul play is not suspected in the death of a white male, believed to be approximately 50-years-old, whose body was found in a unit at Crestwood Apartments on Riverdale Street early Monday afternoon, police said.

"There is no indication that it is suspicious," Capt. John Ferrarini said. Police have not yet released the man's name pending notification of family members.

A friend discovered the body shortly after 12:50 p.m., Ferrarini said. The complex is located at 2149 Riverdale St.

The content of the syringe is not yet known, Ferrarini said, adding that it has been sent to a state crime lab for testing.
