Pros:
This is a very good apartment community to live, overall. Very nice maintenance guys, who are very friendly as well. Good neighbors, even though I don't know them, never had any troub
le.
Cons:
Most apartments lack dual pane windows, so noise is on the higher side due to regular maintenance activities going on in other apartments, so if you are a person who works from home a lot, be ready.
Rent increase was $230 for a one bed for 2017-2018 cycle. And there is easily a $100 on top of your rent advertised (monthly)
Extra car parking is paid, but there is always someone who parks in your spot, in the internal community website, this is the top complaint.

We went there with an appointment and talked to "Laurie". She was very rude. She said they don't have any available or display unit to show us (they didn't say this on the phone when we were making the appointment). She didn't even bother to show us around the building amenities (e.g. swimming pool) and refered us to their website! Just a waste of our time! more »

Business Response:

Hi Alexandros. We are sorry to hear of your frustrations. Yes, we are a little short handed at the moment and you may experience a delayed response time from us. Our Neighborhood Director made a special visit to the Neighborhood on a weekend day to make sure your service request was taken care of. Is there something she missed that day? If so, please feel free to reach out and let us know at shadowbrook@prometheusreg.com.

Pros
- Everyone from the leasing office has been really friendly. Even when we accidentally parked our UHaul in another resident's space (sorry!), they were very cool about the whole thing
and made sure to clarify what parking spaces were fair game. They've been good about communicating, as well -- there are reminders for when rent is due as well as detailed notices about construction projects, which is great.
- Maintenance personnel have been super clean, professional, and actually effective -- I had horrible maintenance people at my last apartment complex, so I cannot stress the importance of this enough.
- The path that winds through the whole complex is really pretty and well maintained; there are two ponds with waterfalls that are frequented by baby ducks and their moms. That may or may not be a pro for you, but personally I like have a little wildlife around in the middle of suburbia. It's a nice place to take a short walk around at night, and every apartment seems to have a balcony or patio that faces this path.
- The surrounding area is nice and has a lot of restaurants, groceries, etc., so long as you have a car (it's also very close to Castro street and Murphy). There are restaurants and parks in walking distance, but getting to groceries or the train on foot wouldn't be fun.
- Rent can be paid online and laundry is paid through a re-loadable card, so no more turning in checks or searching for quarters.
- The units are clean and well taken care of. We ended up in one of the few units that has not been remodeled in the last few years (so ours does not look like the photos online), but the appliances are in good shape and aren't particularly old. The carpeting and windows could definitely use an update, but other than that, no complaints.
Cons
- The flipside of the well-maintained plants is that there are ants and other little bugs floating around. No cockroaches or anything particularly gross, but you will encounter small spiders, etc.
- The walls seem to be pretty thin. Thankfully it's a quiet community, but if someone is being loud next door, you will hear it. But that's what happens when you share a wall, so oh well.
- The complex's numbering is a little weird, so delivery people tend to have a hard time finding the correct apartment. A property map would be useful to make sure packages end up at the right place!

You get a lot of square feet for your money here in my opinion. That, and the landscaping really is quite something. Don't get too suckered in by the really nice front pool area, because only 1/3 apartments are in that area. Make your decision based on the amenities around the unit you are considering. more »

I've been very happy since I moved here 4 months ago. The rent is cheap compared to the size you get. A lot of people mention leaks but shortly after I moved in they refinished all the roofs (and upgraded the wiring). It's definitely an old complex but the appliances are solid. I've put in several maintenance requests (things like broken light switches) and they were all taken care of within a day. The walls are thin so I can sometimes hear high bass from other tv's but the tenants are mostly older - no young partiers. I think if you go in not expecting luxury (considering the rents are cheap) you'll be happy. more »
