Fire Damages Four Apartments in Wilmington

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. - A fire caused about $70,000 worth of damage to at least four apartments in Wilmington Saturday morning.

It happened around 5 a.m. at the Sand Ridge Apartments on Troy Drive.

Investigators say the fire started in a trash can on a porch outside after smoking material was not properly discarded.

Fortunately no one was injured, and the Red Cross is working to help anyone displaced.
