JSO searching for possible suicidal man after SWAT callout to Auburn Glen Apartments

Police tell Times-Union news partner First Coast News they are searching for the man who reportedly barricaded himself in a Southside apartment complex building on Wednesday evening.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says they surrounded part of the Auburn Glen Apartments after receiving reports of a suicidal man.

Neighbors in close proximity to the man's apartment were evacuated as a precaution as JSO SWAT team members tried to establish communications with the potentially armed subject.

JSO reports they entered the apartment after all attempts to negotiate with the man failed and were not able to locate the individual.

Police believe the man fled during the time period before they swarmed the area.

Officers are checking with acquaintances to determine the man's location.

JSO says the man does not have a history of violence and has not threatened anyone except himself.
