Cape Town property developers FWJK have promised that their planned city centre skyscraper will include affordable housing - but the price of the "affordable" apartments will be "less than R800 000". If it is given the go-ahead, the Zero-2-One skyscraper planned for the corner of Strand and Adderley Streets will be the tallest building in Cape Town and will contain more than 620 apartments, GroundUp reports. FWJK says affordable housing has been included in the plans, through the provision of 104 apartments which will sell for "less than R800 000", according to regional director Craig Armstrong . In early 2013, a group of developers announced plans to move forward with the redevelopment of a stretch of industrial buildings along the Sheridan Expressway in the Bronx, into a massive affordable housing complex . Since then, four buildings of a total eight have been built as part of this megaproject. This week, developers filed plans for a fifth building, The Real Deal reports. This new building will be located at 1560 Boone Avenue, stand 16-stories tall, and bring 366 apartments to the neighborhood. The first two buildings that opened at the megaproject in November last year had a total of 237 apartments and were open to New Yorkers making between $28,835 and $52,389 annually. Willow Springs Apartments will be located off of Bixler Avenue, north of US 70 and behind the now-closed Cattleman’s Steak House on Bataan Memorial West . The property is being developed by Dillon Mountain Enterprises , LLC. which is owned by Paul Curry and his son, Jared Curry. The Currys acquired the property in 2006 from a church which had plans to build on the site but opted to purchase a building in town instead. Construction on the 14.12-acre property will require the Currys to pave more than 1,000 feet of Bixler Avenue, one of the city’s oldest platted but undeveloped rights-of-way.
