Monterey County Supervisors address... MONTEREY COUNTY , Calif. - The Monterey County Board of Supervisors will discuss the issue of illegal camping on Lapis Road when they reconvene on Tuesday. District 4 Supervisor Jane Parker confirmed an agenda item is in the works with input from the Department of Social Services, the Monterey County Sheriff 's Office, Public Works and Environmental Health. Nearly 1,100 new apartment units could be coming to Pentagon City as part of a major planned development of the 37- acre RiverHouse apartment complex . RiverHouse owner Vornado presented the initial development plans to largely skeptical members of the Arlington Ridge Civic Association last night. The plans call for 934 new market rate apartment units , to be added to the existing 1,670 units on the site across three buildings, which date back to the 1950s and 60s. Vornado is also proposing a 150 unit, stand-alone affordable apartment building , to be developed with a nonprofit affordable housing partner . The new market rate units will be built across three buildings, each about seven stories tall — half the height of the existing buildings — to preserve the views of condominium residents on Arlington Ridge . Not anymore, apparently. Township Supervisor Pat Williams has convinced Wayne County to share the $600,000 cost of paving a 900- foot section south of Hanford, meaning all of Ridge between Warren and Ford roads can now be paved. BOONE — The Watauga County Board of Commissioners is hosting a second public hearing on the proposed amendments to the ordinance that governs subdivisions and multi-unit structures on Sept. 19. The ordinance changes originally went before a public hearing in May but the commissioners asked planning and inspections to review the ordinance again after some questions were raised. The department was asked to review the ordinance by the commissioners in January, when Boone’s former area of extraterritorial jurisdiction was returned to county authority. The idea was to clarify some language and add things that reflect statutory changes, said Director Joe Furman back in May. As previously defined in the ordinance, a multi-unit structure is a building containing three or more separate and independent dwellings, offices or commercial establishments (excluding hotels/motels). The property, a vacant lot at the northeast corner of Bayshore and Thomasson drives, has been slated for affordable housing since 2005. But it has always been the county's plan for the East Naples site that the housing on it — either condominiums or single family homes — would be owned and not rented. In a 2005 agreement with the owners of the property, called the Cirrus Pointe Planned Unit Development , the county gave developers permission to build more units than is typically allowed in exchange for keeping 44 of those condos or homes affordable. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A Lyndhurst hotel and a pair of projects that will bring nearly 500 apartments to Cleveland won financing support Tuesday from the Cleveland- Cuyahoga County Port Authority . The port's board signed off on nearly $200 million in real estate- related bond transactions , setting the stage for construction to start within months on a trio of projects. The agency acts as a conduit for development financing, issuing bonds and helping to structure deals that involve longer terms , lower interest rates or cheaper construction materials than a borrower might find in the private market. Tuesday's headline deals were: A  Hyatt Place hotel and a 355- space parking garage at the Legacy Village shopping center in Lyndhurst. A developer wants to bring more than 250 new apartments to the  Mall of Georgia area.  The apartments are proposed for a 22-acre tract on Laurel Crossing Parkway , a street that juts off of Ga. 20 about half a mile north of Coolray Field, the home of  the Gwinnett Braves baseball team . The property is also just across I-85 from the Mall of Georgia.  Pedcor Investments LLC recently filed documents with the Gwinnett County planning commission asking for the property to be rezoned to a classification that will allow for multifamily housing. The site is currently zoned for office-industrial and business districts. Pedcor wants to build 256 apartments spread across 10 different buildings.  “The proposed development would also include a clubhouse and several amenities for residents,” planning documents said, “ including outdoor recreation areas , fitness center, business center and a pool.”  The planning commission is scheduled to consider the rezoning proposal at its Sept. 5 meeting....

The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) in southern Virginia voted 10 -6 to terminate a deal with Spartanburg, S.C.-based RePower under which the company as slated to build a $100 million trash-handling complex. There had been rancor on the arrangement for a while. In 2016, Virginia Beach, Va., was balking on the deal over whether companies that pick up trash from apartment buildings, shopping centers, offices and other commercial customers will be allowed to continue dropping off their loads at SPSA transfer stations or if they’d be bound to the new facility. When Valerie Marshall looked out her window in Westminster one night last September, she knew the commotion outside was something out of the ordinary. In a parking lot across the street, she witnessed a man assaulting and choking a woman before he forced her into an apartment. Where some may have let fear prevent them from coming to the aid of a stranger, Marshall called 911 on behalf of the victim. Her bravery went further when she agreed to testify as a witness during the trial for the man, later identified as Curtis Frisby.
