Lawyers argue police had no right to raid apartment where Springfield murder suspect was found

SPRINGFIELD -- The complex, multi- defendant case involving  the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Kenneth Lopez was back in court Wednesday , with four defense lawyers arguing police should not have been granted a warrant to search an apartment where the accused shooter was arrested. While the murder warrant that led to the arrest of Lee Rios isn't in dispute, the attorneys have taken issue with the broader search warrant , which led to the arrest of three other people on gun charges. But a prosecutor in the case told Hampden Superior Court Judge Constance M. Sweeney Wednesday the search warrant was justified because the 196 Nursery St. apartment was the first place Lee Rios went after the slaying -- making it he most likely location for investigators to find forensic evidence .  Lee Rios, 24, is charged with murder in the killing of Lopez, whose body was found around noon on March 25, 2015, in the yard of a house at Dwight and Calhoun streets in the city's North End. Kennewick man killed in gang-related shooting Monday night

A 20-year-old Kennewick man is dead in a gang- related shooting at the Heatherstone Apartments. Jorge Antonio Jimenez was shot in the stomach and leg when he confronted two suspects carving their rival gang insignia into the paint of his gold SUV parked in the complex lot Monday night . Police were looking Tuesday for two male suspects seen running north through the complex across the street from Park Middle School . Officers were called shortly before 9 p.m. Monday to a report of several shots fired at 1138 W. 10th Ave. in the parking lot of the F Building. “At least a dozen shots were fired by the suspect with a handgun, with at least two of the bullets striking the victim,” said Kennewick Sgt. Ken Lattin. Some friends helped a wounded Jimenez back to his second-floor apartment, where he died before police and paramedics arrived. Bristol, R.I. —  Bristol Police Chief Josue Canario announces the arrest of three individuals as a result of a narcotics investigation by Bristol Police over the past several months. During the course of the investigation 36-year-old Kenny Savinon of Bristol was identified as the primary target of the investigation. As a result of the investigation Bristol Police were able to secure an arrest warrant for Savinon. Court authorized search warrants for four properties under the control of Savinon were also obtained. On August 24, 2017 while Savinon was entering his business, Get Liquidated at 15 Gooding Ave, Bristol Police officers approached Savinon and took him into custody without incident. Bristol Police: Three Arrested After Narcotics Probe

BRISTOL, RI— Police raided four properties in Town on Thursday in connection with the arrest of Kenny Savinon, 36, of Bristol. According to police Chief Josue D. Canario, Savinon, who runs Get Liquidated at 15 Gooding Ave., was the main target of a narcotics investigation that spanned several months. He was taken into custody Thursday on his way into his business. Police searched Get Liquidated and three other addresses after obtaining court- authorized search warrants . K-9 units from the Bristol County Massachusetts Sheriff ’s Office and Middletown Police Department assisted in the search. His first-floor apartment at 26 Bay View Ave ., a second- floor apartment at 145 Franklin St., and a first floor apartment at 34 Central St. were also searched. During the searches, Bristol Police located and seized over 2 ounces of suspected cocaine, approximately 3 grams of heroin, approximately 1 gram of fentanyl, several jars of marijuana, 10 mature marijuana plants , 3 vials of suspected s...
