Small BTO flat made more spacious after $47,000 renovation, Business News

Image
A clever design and smart choice of materials helped to make this small apartment appear more spacious than it actually is. Who: A couple in their 30s, and their pet dog Home: A four- room HDB BTO apartment in Clementi Size: 990sqf Homeowners today are increasingly savvy in exploring design ideas . For newlyweds Robertson and Joanne Tay, they were sure of the look they wanted for their matrimonial home, which led to them meeting Ivan O, creative director of IDISID, through a friend's recommendation. Much to the designer's delight, the couple came prepared with a digital library of ideas, which they had collated from websites like Pinterest. This helped to move the discussion along and provided the designer with a good reference of the style they wanted. "We wanted a bright and airy home, with a good combination of materials like wood and concrete against a backdrop of white," shares Robertson. To achieve the look, they broke down the walls of two bedrooms, creatin...

A Dozen Possible Inspirations For This Over the Top Indiana Mansion

Are you ready for the real estate equivalent that's the opposite of Coco Chanel's famous fashion advice — "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off"? This 29, 500 square foot mansion in Indiana is a cautionary tale of mixing styles gone overboard. It seems as though no designer or contractor ever removed or renovated a thing in the home's 60-plus year history, simply adding and adding and adding... and adding . Though a 29, 500 square foot mansion is just a fantasy for many, this 11-bedroom, 8-bathroom compound in Indianapolis is a shining example of when actual fantasy aesthetics can get a house into trouble. It's like Jim Henson's idea of an 1980s avant garde Fallingwater , but set on Dragonstone. Or if the Observatory in Frank Oz's Dark Crystal met Tom Selleck 's quirky penthouse in Three Men and a Baby. We had to tour the head-scratching $1.79 million estate for ourselves after the Onion A/V Club pretty much...

[PNG Merlin Archive] PNG PNG Savvy buyers of new apartments in Metro Vancouver tend to do their research on who’s building them. Good reputations take years to develop and the people at Townline are using the company’s reputation for quality in their sales pitch for The Parker, a new 47-home development in the ever- popular Cambie corridor . Townline is a local operation that has been building homes in Vancouver since 1981. Back then, it was single-family homes, but the company has since branched out to building multi-family homes, mixed-use buildings, rental apartments and non- market developments in Metro Vancouver and on Vancouver Island. “Buyers in today’s market are increasingly choosing developments based on the reputation of the developers,” said Chris Colbeck, Townline’s vice-president of sales and marketing. “A big part of our sales pitch at The Parker is that we’re a local developer.
