Property developer iQ has released plans to create a halls of residence for graduates in Manchester city centre . Three blocks of 'co- living accommodation ' dubbed Echo Street are earmarked for a site on Granby Row, near Piccadilly station. The development, designed by Sheppard Robson, will create 643 bedrooms, a mix of studios and shared apartments, for young professionals who are being outpriced by the current private rental market . With all inclusive rents, including bills and amenities, and only one week's deposit needed iQ claim the scheme will make city centre living affordable for graduates and young professionals. According to Zoopla the average cost to rent a one bed flat in Manchester city centre is £850. This climbs to £1,130 for a second bedroom. Plans for a residential development on Brunswick Street close to Manchester city centre have been approved. Developer Generation has named the scheme of 16 new apartments New Brunswick. Some of the homes have already been snapped up by local buyers, ahead of the scheduled start to work on site before the end of the year. The construction period will be twelve months. Located close to all the main Manchester universities and main hospital campuses , the site is less than 10 minutes’ walk (or one bus stop away) from Piccadilly rail station . Local landmarks include the Grade II- listed Apollo O2 theatre and Ardwick Green. Former footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs have revealed a new Hodder + Partners- designed tower  for Manchester, England, after dropping their original designs following uproar over the plan to raze several historic buildings . The former Manchester United players -turned-devlopers are working with  Burnley Football Club owner Brendan Flood on the plans for the St Michael's scheme, which they first unveiled in August 2016. Earlier this month, IQ Student Accommodation , backed by the Wellcome Trust, Goldman Sachs and Greystar, revealed plans for a large- scale residential scheme targeted at young occupiers, next to Vimto Park and the train line into Manchester’s Piccadilly station. Designed by Sheppard Robson, the three-block scheme would replace the existing Chandos house student accommodation building with 643 bedrooms aimed at recent graduates and young professionals, alongside 242 rooms for university students. The Echo Street development , described as “the UK’s first ‘co-living’ scheme”, would include fully furnished apartments , amenity spaces, work areas, lounges and a gym. Plans for more than 750 flats - including a 40-storey skyscraper - in a huge new redevelopment around Angel Meadows will go before councillors today (Thursday).
